Working closely with our local partners across southeastern Arizona, my team went to bat for investments that help define our region’s quality of life for generations.

Statement on Iran Conflict.

Saturday's action by President Trump sent a clear message: the Iranian regime’s aggression and destabilizing threats will not go unanswered. For decades, the Iranian regime has funded terror, attacked our allies, and threatened American servicemembers. President Trump and his administration have continually been seeking peace, but Iran chose escalation.

This is no time for partisan politics. The time is now for Senators Kelly and Gallego to do the right thing and pass full funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Our national defense and counterterrorism efforts depend on it. When American safety is on the line, we must lead — not posture. Arizona deserves serious leadership, and our national security demands it.

Above all, protecting American lives and interest must always come first. I stand with our troops and remain committed to holding this dangerous regime accountable. May God protect our servicemembers and bless the United States of America.

Lastly, if you or a loved one are currently in the Middle East, please see the information provided by the U.S. Department of State below. Additionally, if you need assistance or would like more information, you can call our office at (520) 881-3588.

President Trump Delivered Strong State of the Union Address.

I believe our Union is strong — and it grows stronger when we work together to deliver real results for the American people. I had the opportunity to attend this year’s State of the Union on February 24th, where the President outlined progress made over the past year and the work still ahead.

From continued job growth and lower energy costs to improvements at our southern border, there are encouraging signs — driven by the hard work of families, farmers, small business owners, and law enforcement across our district and nation.

I was especially honored to be joined by my friend Ben Menges, a fifth-generation farmer from Safford. Ben represents the very best of southeastern Arizona — resilience, dedication, and a deep commitment to family and community. His story is a reminder that the strength of our Union comes from the people who work every day to build a better future.

State of the Union Week in D.C.

The hours leading up to Trump’s State of the Union were filled with several meetings with different local and national groups.

Among these was an AIPAC meeting, in which I received an important update on the threats facing the United States and Israel as a result of Iran and its funding of international terror organizations. Supporting the Iranian people while putting pressure on the government is crucial to help regain stability in the region.

I also had the pleasure of meeting with the University of Arizona student government, Pima County supervisors, Santa Cruz County supervisors, Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative, leadership from the Udall Foundation, among others. Sitting down with local leadership is always productive, and I was honored to welcome them all to our D.C. office.

Prior to President Trump’s address to the nation, Ben Menges and I joined a roundtable on the State of the Union, held by the Republican Study Committee. We spoke on the overall strength and security of our nation.

The members of the Republican Study Committee remain committed to bringing forth legislation that strengthens our national security, promotes free trade, and upholds the rights of each American citizen.

Important Information for Tax Season.

As we are in the midst of tax season, our office wants to give you update you on valuable information that can help in your filing!

Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, 91% of Americans are finding it easier than ever to file their taxes.

This legislation streamlines tax filing, with the largest tax refunds in history being project for this season and 210 million hours saved in total on tax preparation. These tax cuts will result in a reduction of $13 billion in compliance costs, and an increase of over $10,000 in annual take-home pay for working families.

Under the Working Families Tax Cuts, standard deduction levels have been permanently extended. These new levels are $15,750 for single or married filing separately filers, $31,500 for married couples filing jointly, and $23,625 for head of household filers.

Finally, it is now easier for small businesses and workers to file taxes. The Working Families Tax Cuts remove unnecessary IRS paperwork and simplify reporting requirements, including increasing the income reporting threshold to $2,000 before small businesses must send certain tax forms.

Additionally, we’ve heard from many of you, our constituents, regarding issues obtaining your 1099-R form from the Office of Personnel Management. Annuitants who have an email on file with OPM may have received their 1099-Rs electronically.

To access your 1099-R Form online, please visit: https://www.servicesonline.opm.gov/. A new access tool can help you get your current year 1099-R tax form, no login required.

You may also contact OPM Retirement Services online or call 1-888-767-6738 (TTY: 711).

As always, please contact my office for assistance with a federal agency.

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in Arizona’s Sixth District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.

As this July 4th marks the semi quincentennial anniversary of the birth of our nation, students are encouraged but not required to use the 250th theme in their submissions.

The deadline for submissions for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Since day one of being in office, I have been a champion of veterans. In the 119th Congress alone, I have introduced and led four veterans-focused bills that have passed the House. AZ-06 is home to nearly 80,000 veterans and supporting each and every one is a high priority for me.

As part of my effort to give back to our veterans here in southeastern Arizona, I have hosted three Veteran Servant Leader Award events. These events honor veterans who have continued to serve their communities after their time spent serving our nation. My office and I have been able to award dozens of veterans through these three events, and we are looking forward to our fourth which will be held this April.

If you know an AZ-06 veteran who is dedicated to giving back to their community and embodies the values of duty, service, and commitment that are at the core of our military, we invite you to nominate them for our fourth Veteran Servant Leader Awards! Nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 17.

You can nominate a veteran HERE.

MARCH | Women’s History Month: Honoring Sandra Day O’Connor.

March is Women’s History Month, and this week I want to recognize one of Arizona’s most remarkable trailblazers, Sandra Day O’Connor. Raised on the Lazy B Ranch outside of Duncan, in what is now Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, she carried the values of our state with her throughout her life of service.

As the first woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, Justice O’Connor broke barriers and helped shape modern American jurisprudence. Her legacy is defined by independence, thoughtfulness, and a deep respect for the Constitution.

Above all, she was committed to the rule of law and to the country she loved. By opening the door for women on the nation’s highest court, she expanded opportunities for generations to come.

Arizona is proud to call her one of our own, and I am grateful for her life and lasting legacy.

Profiles of the American Dream.

Wife. Mother. Grandmother. Great-grandmother. Geraldine “Geri” Meyer is all those things – and more.

The longtime Tucson resident also is a nurse and U.S. Army veteran who served in a Mobil Army Surgical Hospital during World War II. She was married for 61 years to her late husband Roy, a fellow WW II veteran who enlisted in the Army Air Force at 17 and served as a gunner on a B24 Liberator with the 449th Bombardment Group. After the war, Geri cared for veterans as a VA nurse anesthetist.

A member of the Greatest Generation might be the best way to describe this inspiring lady who just celebrated her 104th birthday.

Happy Birthday, Geri! The American Dream is alive and well thanks to patriots like you.
