PASSED: Critical Minerals Consistency Act.
Copper and other critical minerals are an essential resource in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, providing both job opportunities and a boost to our economy. For this reason, I am proud to have introduced the Critical Mineral Consistency Act (H.R. 755), which passed the House last Tuesday, March 3.
This legislation supports American energy independence, bolsters domestic critical supply chains, and supports responsible resource development across the country.
Critical minerals are key components in a wide range of technologies, including renewable energy systems, advanced batteries, semiconductors, aerospace equipment, and defense systems. The United States currently relies heavily on foreign sources, often from nations hostile to the U.S., for many of these materials. The bill addresses this vulnerability by ensuring that federal agencies operate from a unified and transparent framework.
You can read my press release on the passage of this legislation HERE, and you can read my statement following its passage below.

Continued Advocacy for Arizona Water Conservation.
Alongside the Arizona Republican delegation, I was proud to lead a letter to Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum last month, urging him to help secure the water Arizona needs to support its growing microchip manufacturing, aerospace and critical mineral industries. My colleagues and I called for the removal of the controversial Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), a proposal that would impose "drastic reductions" on our state's Colorado River water supplies.
Last Tuesday, March 3, my colleagues and I in the Arizona Republican delegation sent a second letter to Secretary Burgum to express our continued concerns regarding the DEIS program. We remain committed to reach a balanced approach that will allow us to work with other states reliant on water from the Colorado River, to ensure that the state of Arizona and our neighboring states can thrive.
The original letter to Secretary Burgum can be read HERE.

Department of Homeland Security: Necessary Funding and Staffing Changes.
I remain committed to funding the Department of Homeland Security, as we need the Department up and running to its full capacity in order to keep our nation protected and secure. Last Thursday, March 5, my colleagues and I in the House voted on a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through September of 2026. The measure passed in a slim 221-209 vote, meaning that over 200 House Democrats voted against funding DHS, an action that directly affects our national security. You can read my statement posted on social media HERE.
Also on Thursday, March 5, President Trump announced that Senator Markwayne Mullin will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, with the current Secretary, Kristi Noem, moving to the Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas. I am proud of my friend Sen. Mullin and know he will be successful in this new role. |

Voted AGAINST the Iran War Powers Resolution.
I stand with President Trump’s continued action against the Iranian regime. Our President is acting within his power, and therefore I stand with him. On Thursday, March 5, I voted against an Iran War Powers Resolution, which would have immediately halted all United States military action against Iran.
Because President Trump’s actions against Iran are well within his power as President, I do not support any legislation that will strike down his ability to take action against the Iranian regime.
I support fighting for the freedom of the Iranian people, a fight that President Trump has the courage to lead. |

Investing in the Next Generation of Journalists.
Our high school students are among the next generation of leaders, which is why I am so passionate about encouraging them in their goals and dreams for the future. Last Friday, I had the honor of speaking at the Arizona Latino Media Association (ALMA) High School Journalism Workshop in Phoenix.
I spent time speaking to a group of high schoolers who have an interest in journalism and answered some great questions from them. I am always so encouraged when I get to connect with students and hear the different aspirations they have.
This bright group of students have amazing futures ahead of them and I am inspired by their motivation and skill.

Important Information for Tax Season.
As we are in the midst of tax season, our office wants to give you update you on valuable information that can help in your filing!
Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts, 91% of Americans are finding it easier than ever to file their taxes.
This legislation streamlines tax filing, with the largest tax refunds in history being project for this season and 210 million hours saved in total on tax preparation. These tax cuts will result in a reduction of $13 billion in compliance costs, and an increase of over $10,000 in annual take-home pay for working families.
Under the Working Families Tax Cuts, standard deduction levels have been permanently extended. These new levels are $15,750 for single or married filing separately filers, $31,500 for married couples filing jointly, and $23,625 for head of household filers.
Finally, it is now easier for small businesses and workers to file taxes. The Working Families Tax Cuts remove unnecessary IRS paperwork and simplify reporting requirements, including increasing the income reporting threshold to $2,000 before small businesses must send certain tax forms.
Additionally, we’ve heard from many of you, our constituents, regarding issues obtaining your 1099-R form from the Office of Personnel Management. Annuitants who have an email on file with OPM may have received their 1099-Rs electronically.
To access your 1099-R Form online, please visit: https://www.servicesonline.opm.gov/. A new access tool can help you get your current year 1099-R tax form, no login required.
You may also contact OPM Retirement Services online or call 1-888-767-6738 (TTY: 711).

House Unanimously Passes Ciscomani’s Bipartisan Critical Minerals Bill AZ Free News
"The U.S. House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation led by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06) to strengthen domestic supply chains for critical minerals, including copper, on Tuesday. The measure, the Critical Mineral Consistency Act (H.R. 755), would align federal definitions used by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Department of the Interior for materials considered critical to national security, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure. The legislation passed the House unanimously. Currently, the Department of Energy maintains a list of 'critical materials,' while the U.S. Geological Survey within the Department of the Interior maintains a separate list of 'critical minerals.' Because the lists differ, certain materials do not qualify for federal incentives, financing opportunities, or streamlined permitting available to resources designated as critical minerals. The legislation would align the two federal lists, allowing materials identified by the Department of Energy to receive the same recognition and benefits granted to those listed by the U.S. Geological Survey. According to Ciscomani’s office, the policy change is intended to provide greater clarity for federal agencies and industry while accelerating domestic mining and processing projects."
Congressman seeks veterans to honor
Green Valley News "Rep. Juan Ciscomani's office is looking for nominations for its Veteran Servant Leader Awards for spring. His office has held three award events during his time in office to honor veterans who continue to serve their communities after their time spending times serving the nation. If you know a veteran in Ciscomani's Congressional District 6, which includes Green Valley and parts of Sahuarita, who qualifies, you can make a nomination through April 17 at www.ciscomani.house.gov/veteran-servant-leader."
Rep. Ciscomani says replacing Noem at DHS was right decision ABC 15 Arizona "ABC15's Nick Ciletti spoke one-on-one with Arizona Congressman Juan Ciscomani on Friday after he spoke to a group of high school journalism students, attending the Arizona Latino Media Association High School Journalism Workshop in downtown Phoenix, hosted at the ASU Cronkite School. Nick asked Rep. Ciscomani to give his take on President Donald Trump's decision to replace Kristi Noem as head of the Department of Homeland Security. A decision Congressman Ciscomani says he and many other Republicans agreed with, saying he did not agree with her approach in 'some cases,' and in those cases, the outcomes were 'very tragic,' referring to the shooting deaths of two people in Minnesota who were protesting ICE activity. 'Let me first say that overall, DHS and ICE agents and those in law enforcement have been doing a terrific job going after those that are here committing crimes and being dangerous in our community. However, not everything was done in the best way possible. When those cases and instances were highlighted - because they should have been and because of how they happened - it added a light to some of the fixes that needed to happen. And many of us voiced that for weeks and months and finally got to a boiling point that we got to and the decision was made,' he said."

Since day one of being in office, I have been a champion of veterans. In the 119th Congress alone, I have introduced and led four veterans-focused bills that have passed the House. AZ-06 is home to nearly 80,000 veterans and supporting each and every one is a high priority for me.
As part of my effort to give back to our veterans here in southeastern Arizona, I have hosted three Veteran Servant Leader Award events. These events honor veterans who have continued to serve their communities after their time spent serving our nation. My office and I have been able to award dozens of veterans through these three events, and we are looking forward to our fourth which will be held this April.
If you know an AZ-06 veteran who is dedicated to giving back to their community and embodies the values of duty, service, and commitment that are at the core of our military, we invite you to nominate them for our fourth Veteran Servant Leader Awards! Nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 17.
You can nominate a veteran HERE.

AZ-06 Highlights: Did You Know?
I would like to take a moment to highlight a few accomplishments of our friends at Cochise Community College. First, the college has received a $1.87 million federal grant to lead an artificial intelligence initiative for the purpose of strengthening teaching, learning and workforce readiness.
This award, funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education, supports a national effort to promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence in higher education. The project will span four years and position Cochise College as a leader in the ethical use of AI, helping to bridge the gap between education and workforce development by equipping students, faculty and staff with beneficial AI knowledge and tools.
Secondly, Cochise College has partnered with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office to deliver in-person FAA Part 107 training and testing for local law enforcement agencies.
This past month, sixteen search and rescue personnel completed the two-day FAA Commercial Remote Pilot course, which remains valid for three years. Cochise College designed the course as a targeted workforce training opportunity to provide specialized instruction to public safety agencies and guarantee compliance with federal regulations.
Cochise College remains an epicenter of innovation and student success in our district, and I am proud of the staff’s commitment to pouring into this next generation of leaders in Arizona.
You can read Cochise College President Dr. James Perey’s statement on these accomplishments below.

MARCH | Women’s History Month: Honoring Rose Mofford.
This week I want to recognize Rose Mofford, one of Arizona’s most dedicated public servants. Born in Globe, Arizona, Rose Mofford’s had firsthand experience living in the rural copper mining industry, which she kept with her in her years of public service.
Rose had an interest in civics from a young age, being elected class president each year from 7th grade all the way through her senior year of high school. She was also valedictorian of her graduating class.
She was a pillar of the Arizona community, with a total of 46 years in public service. She started out as a charter member of the Arizona Softball Foundation, being named the Foundation Woman of the Year in 1976. She then worked as a secretary in the state treasurer’s office, then with the Tax Commission – now the Department of Revenue – followed by time with the "Arizona Highways" magazine.
After returning to government, she worked as assistant secretary to the Secretary of State. She was then appointed by the governor to a position in the Department of Revenue. Then in 1977, she became the first female Secretary of State in Arizona, serving in that position a total of 13 years. Rose then became the first female governor of Arizona in 1988.
Sadly, Rose Mofford passed away in 2016, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy of passionate service and commitment. Now, she is referred to as the "First Lady of Arizona," a title that captures her successful civic career and the clear impacts her life made on our great state.
