Prioritizing our Homeland Security.

I have never been in favor of a government shutdown because they only hurt hardworking Americans. Now this week, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown has lasted more than 45 days.

As Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, I know exactly what is at stake with our CBP and Border Patrol, TSA, Secret Service, CISA, FEMA, and Coast Guard personnel.

That is why I introduced H.R. 8029 the Pay Our Homeland Defenders Act, which passed the House with bipartisan support last Thursday. The men and women who protect our homeland deserve certainty, stability, and a paycheck. And the American people deserve a secure homeland.

Advocating for our Agriculture Industry.

There is no doubt that the agriculture industry, both nationally and locally, is vital to economic growth and stability. Especially here in southeastern Arizona, agriculture is a crucial industry as we have hundreds of farmers who work to provide fresh goods for our communities.

Throughout my time in office, I have been a champion of farmers here in AZ-06 and have sought to hear their perspectives in order to introduce and pass legislation that directly benefits them. Last week, I cosponsored a House Resolution that expresses support for the designation of March 26, 2026 as “National Agriculture Day” and honors the importance of agriculture as one of the nation’s most important industries.

I am also proud to support a renewed Farm Bill (H.R. 7567) that will renew funding for Department of Agriculture programs through fiscal year 2031, directly supporting our farmers here in Arizona. When this bill reaches the House floor, I urge my colleagues to vote YES in order to prioritize our agriculture industry across the nation.

Fighting to Protect Consumers from Unlawful Robocalls.

There is no doubt that robocalls are an ever-growing issue, especially now that AI technology is thrown into the mix. Last week, I joined a webinar hosted by AARP Government Affairs to speak on bipartisan legislation I cosponsored that seeks to put an end to AI-generated and unlawful robocalls.

The QUIET Act (H.R. 1027), introduced by Rep. Eric Sorenson (IL-17) and cosponsored by myself, prioritizes the privacy and protection of consumers, especially older adults, by requiring disclosures regarding robocalls that use AI and strengthening penalties for certain violations that involve the use of AI voice or messaging impersonation.

I am grateful to AARP for providing both myself and Rep. Sorenson with the opportunity to join this webinar and speak on the importance of this bill.

You can read more about the QUIET Act HERE and can watch my remarks during the webinar HERE.

Delivering for AZ-06 Constituents.

As your Congressman, I am proud to help and support you in any way I can. That is why my office prioritizes Constituent Services.

My office has worked directly with agencies such as the IRS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, OPM, and the Social Security Administration to return more than $17 million to constituents since taking office.

I am proud to share Richard’s experience with our office. He had an issue with the Office of Personal Management and needed our assistance. We stepped in, made an inquiry to OPM on Richard’s behalf and were quickly able to get his issue resolved.

You can read a statement from Richard below.

Important Information for Tax Season.

As we are in the midst of tax season, our office wants to update you on valuable information that can help in your filing!

Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, 91% of Americans are finding it easier than ever to file their taxes.

This legislation streamlines tax filing, with the largest tax refunds in history being project for this season and 210 million hours saved in total on tax preparation. These tax cuts will result in a reduction of $13 billion in compliance costs, and an increase of over $10,000 in annual take-home pay for working families.

Under the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, standard deduction levels have been permanently extended. These new levels are $15,750 for single or married filing separately filers, $31,500 for married couples filing jointly, and $23,625 for head of household filers.

Finally, it is now easier for small businesses and workers to file taxes. The Working Families Tax Cuts Act removes unnecessary IRS paperwork and simplifies reporting requirements, including increasing the income reporting threshold to $2,000 before small businesses must send certain tax forms.

Additionally, we’ve heard from many of you, our constituents, regarding issues obtaining your 1099-R form from the Office of Personnel Management. Annuitants who have an email on file with OPM may have received their 1099-Rs electronically.

To access your 1099-R Form online, please visit: https://www.servicesonline.opm.gov/. A new access tool can help you get your current year 1099-R tax form, no login required.

You may also contact OPM Retirement Services online or call 1-888-767-6738 (TTY: 711).

As always, please contact my office for assistance with a federal agency.

Ciscomani Backs Estate Tax Relief, Farm Safety Net Programs As Congress Debates Farm Bill

AZ Free News

"Rep. Juan Ciscomani’s (R-AZ06) support for federal tax and agriculture policy measures are being applauded as Congress continues work on a new Farm Bill and debates the future of expiring tax provisions. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) said Ciscomani backed efforts to double the federal estate tax exemption—commonly referred to by Republicans as the 'death tax'—and supported legislation that includes approximately $66 billion in funding for farm safety net programs. The measures are aimed at helping family farms remain financially viable and allow operations to be passed down to future generations. 'Family farmers are the backbone of this country, and Representative Juan Ciscomani has delivered real results to protect their livelihoods and their legacy,' NRCC spokesperson Ben Petersen said. 'While others talk, Representative Ciscomani is taking action to support Arizona’s farmers and producers.'"

Rep. Juan Ciscomani talks border security and Arizona national parks

KGUN 9

"From Capitol Hill, Arizona's 6th District Representative is weighing in on some of the biggest issues in Washington, D.C. KGUN 9's Executive Reporter traveled to Washington, D.C., to speak with Rep. Juan Ciscomani about his second term representing Arizona's 6th Congressional District. During her visit, Ciscomani shared his vision for a bill that would designate the 12,000-acre Chiricahua National Monument as a national park in Cochise County. 'It passed with bipartisan support, and now it's in the Senate. Hopefully, it passes there, signed by the president, and we can have in Arizona our fourth national park, which is huge again for land protection of our public lands and the respect for those lands, but also for economic development in southern Arizona,' Ciscomani said. Ciscomani also gave his thoughts on the partial government shutdown. He is currently serving as the vice chair of the Homeland Security Subcommittee. 'A lot of other things that are, you know, very important to our safety and our national security are not being funded, and unfortunately, the Democrats have continued to just extend,' Ciscomani said."

AZ Political Podcast: Congressman blames DHS shutdown on Democrats 'moving goalposts'

KTAR News

"Republican U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani of Arizona is my latest guest on the AZ Political Podcast. He tells me that Democrats moved the goalposts on Department of Homeland Security funding and blames them for the ongoing shutdown and its ripple effects — including long airport security lines. The Republican says they’re to blame because the original funding bill put forth by the House — and the House Appropriations Committee’s Homeland Security Subcommittee, of which Ciscomani is vice chair — already contained Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reforms Democrats had requested. And then, he says, Democrats asked for more ICE reforms."

Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our Congressional District.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in Arizona’s Sixth District. The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.

As this July 4th marks the semi quincentennial anniversary of the birth of our nation, students are encouraged but not required to use the 250th theme in their submissions.

The deadline for submissions for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Since day one of being in office, I have been a champion of veterans. In the 119th Congress alone, I have introduced and led four veterans-focused bills that have passed the House. AZ-06 is home to nearly 80,000 veterans and supporting each and every one is a high priority for me.

As part of my effort to give back to our veterans here in southeastern Arizona, I have hosted three Veteran Servant Leader Award events. These events honor veterans who have continued to serve their communities after their time spent serving our nation. My office and I have been able to award dozens of veterans through these three events, and we are looking forward to our fourth which will be held this spring.

If you know an AZ-06 veteran who is dedicated to giving back to their community and embodies the values of duty, service, and commitment that are at the core of our military, we invite you to nominate them for our fourth Veteran Servant Leader Awards! Nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 17.

You can nominate a veteran HERE.

AZ-06 Highlights: Did You Know?

Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) is an equine therapy center on Tucson’s East side, providing equine therapy programs for kids and adults with diagnoses including cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delay, Down’s Syndrome, PTSD, and depression & anxiety. TROT also offers a tailored program to serve the unique needs of veterans and first responders.

The organization has been providing equine therapy in Tucson since 1974 and has become a vital resource for many individuals and families in the region. On Friday of last week, my office attended a ribbon cutting for TROT’s new tack building, which will make it easier to store equipment and serve their guests more efficiently.

For over 50 years, TROT has provided the local community with services to help with treatment of several diagnoses, giving these individuals an outlet to help manage their symptoms and needs.

Congratulations to TROT on the new tack building. I wish you continued success!

Profiles of the American Dream.

The Wildcats we all know. Especially now. You’d have to be living under a rock not to know the amazing things these guys achieved on the court this year.

The Aztecs might not be as well-known but these talented Pima Community College athletes – men and women – proved to be a real powerhouse over the course of the 2025-26 basketball season.

But how many of us have the Pima High School Roughriders on our sports radar? Odds are that not a lot of folks are aware of this well-oiled machine who this month became the pride of the little Graham County town of Pima.

The Roughriders last month captured the 2A boys basketball championship with a 40-29 win over Anthem North Valley Christian at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.

As the website GilaValleyCentral noted, “it felt like the entire town of Pima” was on hand to support the top-seeded Roughriders. Local heroes deserve nothing less.

This championship marks Pima’s second title in three seasons after winning in 2023 and its 12th overall, including five straight titles from 1969-1973. And this year’s crown was all the more meaningful because it was the last season for retiring coach Cliff Thompson.

The Eastern Arizona Courier called Cliff a “blue-collar champion” who capped his 22 seasons at Pima with 475 wins, ranking 17th all-time in Arizona history. He leaves behind quite the legacy.

Congrats to the Roughriders!
