New Mission at Fort Huachuca.

I am honored to announce a new mission at Fort Huachuca, which is a huge win for Cochise County, Arizona, and our national security as a whole. Since last year, I have led this effort in Washington, working with the Trump Administration and Secretary of the Air Force to bring a new mission to Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District.

Once home to the legendary Buffalo Soldiers, the Fort is now the center of some of the most technologically advanced 21st century military missions, including the U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, the Network Enterprise Technology Command and the Electronic Proving Ground.

Fort Huachuca is the largest employer in Cochise County. It encompasses 946 square miles of restricted airspace and 2,500 square miles of protected electronic ranges.

This new mission is crucial for bolstering the local economy as well as our nation’s security. I am proud to have led this effort and look forward to the positive impact it will have here in AZ-06.

As our office is given more details on the mission, I will be sure to relay that information to you. Stay tuned for updates in the newsletter and on social media.

You can read more about this win HERE and read my statement on the new mission below.

PASSED: Mayor Ed Honea Post Office Legislation.

The late Ed Honea was a pillar of the Marana community. Honea was born and raised in Marana. He graduated from Marana High School in 1965, served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees, and worked as a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years. He then served three terms on Marana’s Town Council and five as mayor. Honea’s service to his hometown spanned 37 years, during which he saw firsthand the town’s growth and committed to fostering that growth.

Honea unexpectedly passed away on November 22, 2024 at the age of 77. To honor his life and decades of service, I introduced the Mayor Ed Honea Memorial Post Office Bill (H.R. 6247) to designate the Mayor Ed Honea Memorial Post Office at 13355 North Lon Adams Road in Marana, Arizona.

I am proud to announce that my bill passed the House last Tuesday with unanimous support! It now goes to the U.S. Senate.

Prior to the bill’s passage, I gave remarks on its importance and the impact that Ed Honea made in southeastern Arizona, which you can watch HERE.

Continuing to Fight for DHS Funding.

As the Department of Homeland Security shutdown continues, I remain committed to fighting for the funding of our homeland defenders. On Thursday of last week, I had the opportunity to speak again on the importance of funding DHS for our national security, during a House Appropriations Committee hearing.

I was able to question DHS leadership on the impact this shutdown has had on our border security and the overall ability for the Department to function properly, as well as their individual Agencies.

Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection Rodney Scott, Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Todd Lyons, and Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Joseph Edlow answered my questions, giving insight into how DHS has been affected by the ongoing lapse of funding. I thank them for their time and remain dedicated to prioritizing keeping our government fully open.

You can watch my remarks from the hearing HERE.

New mission for Fort Huachuca, Ciscomani announces

KGUN 9

"Fort Huachuca is getting a new mission that should help ensure its place as a key to the Sierra Vista economy. KGUN 9 sat down with Congressman Ciscomani, who says he's been working on getting the new mission assigned to Fort Huachuca for at least a year. 'Every time, I just kept using the relationships that we have within the Department of War and the White House, and every angle I can get on this,’ Ciscomani stated. Congressman Juan Ciscomani’s office announced the new mission, and mentioned the Secretary of the Air Force, but was not specific about the nature of the new mission or about any timeline for when it would become operational. ‘They have asked us to really keep things sensitive. This is all regarding national security, so we have to be careful about what we share at this moment,' Ciscomani said."

Fort Huachuca chosen for new military mission, Arizona congressman announces

KVOA

"Fort Huachuca has been selected as the new home for a new military mission, according to Congressman Juan Ciscomani. The U.S. Department of War selected the 149-year-old Army post for the mission. Ciscomani worked with the Trump Administration and Secretary of the Air Force to bring the new mission to Arizona's 6th Congressional District. 'This new mission is a win for Sierra Vista and Cochise County, a win for Arizona and a win for our national security,' Ciscomani said. 'Most importantly, this a testament to Fort Huachuca and its nationally recognized role as an unequalled strategic asset, not just today, but for the future of our national defense.' Ciscomani has championed the fort as the best possible site for the new mission since last year. The new mission will use the Army post as its base."

Bill to rename Marana post office after former mayor passes House

KGUN 9

"A bill to rename the post office branch at 13355 North Lon Adams Road in Marana
after the town's late mayor, Ed Honea, passed the House on Tuesday. Honea died in 2024 at the age of 77. Arizona Congressman Juan Ciscomani sponsored the bill to change the name, which received bipartisan support from Arizona's entire House delegation, according to a news release from Ciscomani's office. Honea was born and raised in Marana and graduated from Marana High School in 1965. He served on the Marana Town Council for three terms and as mayor for five terms, and worked as a contractor for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years, the news release said. The post office where Honea worked is the same one that might now bear his name. The bill now goes to the U.S. Senate for passage."

100K New Veterans Signed Up for Health Care Following VA Improvements.

Earlier this month, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that more than 100,000 new Veterans have enrolled in VA health care so far in 2026. This follows the landmark improvements the VA has made during Trump's second term in office.

As of March 31, 2026, the VA reached 100,000 new health care enrollees, the fastest it has hit that mark in six of the last seven years.

I am excited to further see how the recent VA improvements positively impact our veterans.

Celebrating the American Spirit.

Our nation celebrates a major milestone in three short months: 250 years of American independence. How will you mark the occasion?

This July 4th is a great opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with the past we all share – to brush up on the history that binds us and get a better understanding of the documents that define us.

America’s enduring founding documents – the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – can all be found on the website of the National Archives. The website also has a wealth of information events like the First Continental Congress and the Battles of Lexington and Concord to researching veterans’ service records and resources for educators.

Then there’s the website of Freedom250, the non-partisan organization leading the celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Here the American story comes to life with videos, toolkits and other valuable information.

President Ronald Reagan once said that America is too great for small dreams. This year, as we reflect on the big dream that our Founding Fathers had 250 years ago, there may be no better time look back on the people and events that made us who we are.

Historic Wins of H.R. 1: Tax Cuts.

Each week, our office would like to highlight different key wins included in H.R. 1, or the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. As the tax filing deadline was last week, we want to take a moment to further highlight the tax wins of this legislation.

The legislation increases the standard deduction by $1,500 and increases after-tax incomes for taxpayers across all income levels by 2.9 percent on average. It also increases the child tax credit (CTC) to $2,200 and ensures the CTC will be adjusted annually according to inflation rates.

Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, an average family of four making less than $100,000 will now receive an additional $600 in tax cuts. Seniors are now eligible for a $6,000 deduction in their taxes significantly reducing their federal taxes. H.R. 1 provides the most significant relief to low-income families. Americans earning less than $50,000 annually will see their taxes cut by 14.9 percent on average, which makes a big difference in the lives of working Americans to help them provide for their families and keep more of the money they worked so hard for.

You can read more about H.R.1’s tax provisions HERE.

AZ-06 Highlights: Did You Know?

Pima Community College just opened a newly expanded Building and Construction Technology Center last week. The center is meant to provide hands-on training to students in order to prepare them for careers in skilled trades.

My office attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility, presenting a certificate to school leadership to congratulate them on this expansion.

Encompassing 25,000 square feet and located at Pima’s downtown campus, a portion of funding for the facility came from more than $1.2 million in federal funding.

You can read more about this newly expanded facility, covered by KGUN 9 HERE.

Profiles of the American Dream.

Craig McFarland just can’t stop giving back to his community.

He moved to Casa Grande 21 years ago and since then has proven to be a sort of Energizer Bunny of civic engagement.

He was elected mayor twice, in 2016 and again four year later. Under his watch, Casa Grande became far more than a pit stop for gas and snacks halfway between Tucson and Phoenix. It was a period of remarkable growth that would test the mettle of any government leader, let alone one who never before held elective office.

After eight successful years at City Hall, Craig was tapped to serve as president and CEO of the Pinal Partnership, the non-profit organization at the heart of the region’s well-coordinated effort to promote and guide economic growth. Considering the explosion of new businesses and subdivisions springing up throughout Pinal County, the job isn’t for the faint of heart.

And then just last week, Craig took the oath of office as the newest member of the Casa Grande Elementary School District Governing Board. Superintendent Adam Leckie called Craig “a huge, huge advocate” for education.

Craig was born and raised in California, the oldest of five boys whose father served in Navy before going to work for Anheuser-Busch. Craig followed in his dad’s footsteps and ended up spending 36 years in leadership positions in the beverage industry. He lived in six different states before he and his wife Nancy settled down in Casa Grande in 2005.

In Casa Grande Craig obviously found a lot more than a place to live. We’re glad he did.
