Honoring Memorial Day Across AZ06!

Over the Memorial Day holiday, I had the privilege of attending two solemn and deeply meaningful events with Laura and our six children to honor the brave Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. We began the day at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana, where we paid tribute to the men and women who gave their lives defending the freedoms we hold dear. It was a powerful reminder that freedom is never free, and that Memorial Day is about honoring those who never made it home.

Later in Oro Valley, we joined families at the Arizona Heroes Memorial, a place dedicated to preserving the legacy of Arizona’s fallen heroes. There, we stood alongside the Gold Star family of Blackhawk Special Operations Regiment pilot Taylor Galvin, who embodies the very reason we pause on Memorial Day, to remember those who gave everything for America. Coming together as a community to honor heroes like Taylor and reflect on their enduring legacy was truly inspiring. We remain forever grateful for the bravery and selflessness of the Americans who ran toward danger to protect and preserve the freedoms we are blessed with as Americans. While Memorial Day has passed, our gratitude for these heroes never fades.

A Memorial Day Message.

Earlier this week, our nation paused to observe Memorial Day, a solemn reminder that the freedoms we cherish were secured and protected by brave men and women who answered the call to serve and never came home. Across every generation of our nation’s nearly 250-year history, Americans have laid down their lives to defend this country and the values that make America exceptional. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion to something greater than themselves will never be forgotten.

As we reflected on Memorial Day, we honored the American heroes who ran toward danger to defend our freedoms and gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their selflessness and bravery will forever be etched into the story of America.

Today and every day, we remember their legacy, pray for Gold Star families, and remain forever grateful for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Appropriations Update.

As of last week, 7 out of 12 appropriations bills for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 have PASSED committee. In addition to funding government agencies, these bills also preliminarily secure critical community project funding (CPFs) for AZ06.

These 7 appropriations bills fund the following:

Military Construction and Veterans Affairs
Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies
Financial Services and General Government
National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs
Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies
Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies
Legislative Branch

Of these 7 bills, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (MilCon-VA) Appropriations Bill has already passed the House floor! It includes huge wins for our veterans, service members, and military families — including increased support for military kids in AZ06.

Prioritizing Border Security, Trade and Commerce.

The DeConcini Land Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona is a critical gateway for trade and commerce between Arizona and Mexico. Unfortunately, it is not functioning at full capacity due to outdated infrastructure that has caused repeated flooding, inhibiting the work of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the site and disrupting the flow of goods between Arizona and Mexico.

I, along with Congressmen Greg Stanton and Abe Hamadeh, wrote a letter to the Department of Homeland Security and General Services Administration to urge swift action in modernizing the DeConcini Land Port of Entry. Improvements made to this site will allow for increased border security and more efficient trade and commerce.

Defending the American Dream of Homeownership.

Owning a home is an integral part of the American Dream. I believe in making homeownership more accessible for all Americans. That is why I just voted in support of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to lessen unnecessary regulations that increase construction costs and make homeownership more difficult for working Arizonans.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act includes provisions designed to:

Reduce burdensome federal regulations that increase housing costs;
Expand housing supply and affordability;
Encourage new home construction and development;
Support workforce and rural housing initiatives;
Increase access to homeownership for working and middle-class families;
Address institutional investment practices impacting housing markets.

This legislation now goes to the U.S. Senate.

Advancing Arizona Water and Energy.

Here in Arizona, water is our most precious resource.

The House Appropriations Committee last week passed the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2027, which I supported because of its key investments for Arizona’s water security and local critical minerals production.

As the sole appropriator representing Arizona in either the House or Senate, I have worked to ensure Arizona’s priorities and the needs of local communities were included in the bill, advancing efforts to strengthen America’s domestic supply chain for critical minerals and reduce reliance on foreign adversaries such as China.

Southern Arizona students earn nominations from Rep. Ciscomani to top military academies

"Congressman Juan Ciscomani is leading a bipartisan effort to fully modernize the DeConcini Land Port of Entry in Nogales, a critical gateway for trade and commerce between Arizona and Mexico. In a letter to the Department of Homeland Security and General Services Administration, Ciscomani and two Arizona colleagues, Congressman Greg Stanton and Abe Hamadeh, are urging swift action to modernize the port. The congressmen write that the facility is critical to the nation's economy and border security. 'This is not a Nogales project, this is a national asset in desperate need of investment,' the congressmen wrote in the letter. The facility processed more than 7 million personal vehicle passengers in 2025...In the letter, Ciscomani, Stanton and Hamadeh called on federal officials to expedite the next phase of the project, including issuing a Notice to Proceed for the required environmental review. Profiles of the American Dream.

Cochise County does it right when it comes to acknowledging the great work of law enforcement in protecting and serving the cities, town and rural communities in the southeastern corner of our state.

The county comes together every year to hold an inspiring ceremony called the Top Cop of Cochise County. The event has one simple but noteworthy goal: to pay tribute to the vigilant men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe.

We wouldn’t have an American Dream without them.

Detective Jasen Wright of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office got this year’s top honor for consistently demonstrating outstanding professionalism, dedication and investigative skill in highly complex kidnapping, murder and robbery cases.

As was noted by the colleague who nominated him, Detective Wright’s "proven ability to bring difficult cases to resolution exemplify the highest standards of our profession."
