Protecting Our Public Lands.

Our district is home to beautiful public lands. I believe these areas deserve to be protected and their future be transparent and openly debated. That is why I am proud to have introduced the bipartisan Public Lands Integrity Act (H.R. 9167) alongside Rep. Gabe Vasquez.

This legislation would immediately halt efforts to sell off America's publicly owned lands through the budget reconciliation process by preventing these decisions from being tucked into backroom deals or rushed budget packages.

I am committed to protecting Sabino Canyon, Mount Lemmon, Chiricahua, Saguaro National Park and the other public lands we treasure in Arizona’s 6th congressional district.

As a member of the bipartisan Public Lands Caucus, I take the protection of our public lands seriously. I have long been an advocate for these beautiful landscapes, cosponsoring the H.R. 5665 Promoting Accessibility on Federal Lands Act last Congress and most recently introducing the Chiricahua National Park Act in December 2025, which passed the House with bipartisan support on March 13, 2026 and is currently awaiting action in the Senate.

The Public Lands Integrity Act would be vital to the preservation of areas in Arizona like Sabino Canyon that are enjoyed by so many locals and tourists.

$20+ Million Coming to Cochise County to Invest in Rural Arizona’s Energy Grid Security.

Rural Arizona is integral to our nation’s energy future. Investments in our nation’s energy and rural communities are critical to strengthening energy security, lowering costs, and meeting the unique needs of growing areas. I was honored to join President Trump last Thursday as he announced critical investments in America’s energy reliability infrastructure.

As part of the Trump administration's nearly $700 million effort in federal support to help restore and modernize coal generation assets across the country, the Arizona Electric Power Cooperative (AEPCO) has been selected to receive over $20 million through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Restoring Reliability: Coal Recommissioning and Modernization program. AEPCO operates the Apache Generating Station, located 80 miles east of Tucson, which provides dependable power to homes, schools, hospitals and businesses in Willcox, Benson and other rural parts of AZ-06.

The project is aimed at ensuring that locally sourced power continues to serve rural homes and businesses here in southeastern Arizona. This investment will benefit daily life in Cochise County and bring good jobs for Arizona workers as skilled union jobs will be preserved and expanded.

Highlighting Arizona Priorities to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

During a House Appropriations National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs subcommittee hearing last week, I had the opportunity to ask Secretary of State Marco Rubio questions related to Arizona priorities. As a subcommittee member, I focused my questions on our state’s urgent challenges and strategic strengths while discussing the Fiscal Year 2027 Department of State Budget.

Our discussion centered on the real and devastating impact of transnational crime and human trafficking in our communities here in Arizona. Our state continues to stand on the front lines of the border, confronting the consequences of trafficking networks and transnational criminal organizations that threaten public safety and exploit vulnerable children.

I also raised concerns about America's growing dependence on Chinese-controlled critical mineral supply chains and the need to strengthen domestic production. Arizona is uniquely positioned to help change the reality ofdependence on China. Our state produces nearly 70% of America’s copper supply and holds substantial untapped critical mineral resources that could be used to reduce reliance on foreign adversaries. I appreciate Secretary Rubio for taking the time to discuss Arizona's concerns in border security, combating human trafficking, and strengthening America’s supply chains.

Delivering for AZ-06 Constituents.

As your Congressman, I am proud to help and support you in any way I can. That is why my office prioritizes Constituent Services.

My office has worked directly with agencies such as the IRS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, OPM, and the Social Security Administration to return more than $19 million to constituents since taking office.

I am proud to share a constituent and his wife's experience with our office. Darrin reached out to our office about an issue he and his wife had with Medicare. His wife is currently receiving critical cancer treatment. The couple was covered under TriWest TRICARE and needed to transition to Medicare upon reaching age 65. Despite submitting all the proper documentation, they hadn’t heard back from Medicare, creating a risk of lapse in coverage that would disrupt his wife’s treatment. We stepped in, made an inquiry to Medicare on his wife's behalf and were quickly able to get the couple’s issue resolved.

Bipartisan bill aims to protect Arizona's public lands from sale

"A new bipartisan measure aims to prevent federal public lands from being sold through budget negotiations, according to U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani's office. U.S. Reps. Ciscomani and Gabe Vasquez introduced the Public Lands Integrity Act on Thursday, according to the release. The legislation would stop public lands like Sabino Canyon Recreation Area from being sold through the budget reconciliation process. The bill designates any reconciliation provision that results in the sale of federal public lands as 'extraneous' under the Byrd Rule, the release states. It would require decisions about federal public lands to go through regular legislative order instead of expedited budget procedures. 'Our public lands should never be subject to backroom deals or rushed budget negotiations,' Ciscomani said. 'That's why I'm proud to co-lead the bipartisan Public Lands Integrity Act.' The congressman said the measure ensures decisions about public lands happen openly with full public input, according to the release. He noted Southern Arizona contains treasured public lands including Saguaro National Park, Mount Lemmon and Sabino Canyon."

Arizona Republican Congressmen Help Push New Federal Grazing Rule For Ranchers

"Ranchers in Arizona and across the nation secured a step toward a potentially major grazing rights victory from the federal government following the intervention of a coalition of Arizona’s Republican congressmen. Republican Reps. Andy Biggs (AZ-05), Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06), Eli Crane (AZ-02), and Paul Gosar (AZ-09) successfully petitioned the Department of the Interior (DOI) to issue a newly proposed grazing rule that purports to give ranchers greater flexibility and security for their work. Last December, Biggs sent a letter requesting actionable support on expanding and rebuilding American cattle to Burgum, Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins, Forest Service Chief Tim Schultz, and Fish and Wildlife Service Director Brian Nesvik. Ciscomani, Crane, and Gosar signed onto Biggs’ letter, which asked the agency heads to resist influencing from 'extreme environmental causes.' Certain environmental advocates — most in progressive circles — believe cattle grazing to be environmentally devastating."

$25M in federal funds one step closer for Arizona's 6th District

"Communities across southeastern Arizona are moving closer to receiving more than $25 million in federal funding for workforce training programs and transportation infrastructure improvements. According to an announcement from Rep. Juan Ciscomani, the House Appropriations Committee advanced two spending bills Wednesday afternoon that include the funding for Arizona's Sixth District. The Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act and the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act now head to the full House for consideration. 'One of my top priorities as Arizona's representative on the Appropriations Committee is to ensure the needs of our communities are reflected in the federal funding process,' Ciscomani said. 'These projects were proposed by local leaders, stakeholders, and residents who understand the unique challenges and opportunities facing our region.' Among the proposed recipients is Pima Community College, which could receive $900,000 for Project Catalyst. The program aims to prepare students for careers in science and technology industries. Dr. Jeffrey Nasse, chancellor of Pima Community College, welcomed the committee's action."

Profiles of the American Dream.

Joe Paiz was a 16-year-old kid when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947, not long after the conclusion of World War II. The New Mexico native retired as a chief warrant officer 30 years later, not long after the last American personnel evacuated Saigon.

Between those two momentous events, Joe’s military career took him around the globe – Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Paraguay, Panama. He also served at Fort Huachuca here in Arizona, where he'd eventually decide to retire, and Fort Bliss in Texas, where he not only took up golf, he mastered the game.

Joe was born in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico, an old farming and ranching community. After he took off his uniform, he spent a lot of quality time on the links as a professional golfer. Mentoring young golfers was a big part of his post-military years.

In the early 1990s, Joe's passion for the sport led him and a handful of investors to revitalize the barren fairways of the Bisbee Municipal Golf Course and turn it into the Turquoise Valley Golf Course and RV Park. Joe was the course's general manager and head golf pro.

As noted in a recent profile in the Sierra Vista Herald, Joe and his wife Francis have five children, and about 70 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many will be on hand next week for Joe's 95th birthday bash in Sierra Vista.
