Casework Milestone: Delivering Over $20 Million Back to Constituents.

Through casework, our office is able to bring real dollars back to families across AZ-06. I am incredibly proud to announce that since taking office in 2023, our team has delivered over $20 million back into constituents’ hands through direct casework with federal agencies. This amount is more than just a number. It means life-changing results for real people across the District.

A wonderful success story comes from Darrin in Tucson, whose wife was at risk of an interruption in cancer treatment due to her TRICARE coverage ending while she awaited Medicare approval. Our office stepped in to help ensure there was no gap in care, and she was able to continue her treatment without interruption.

In Sierra Vista, Adrian had been waiting for his Social Security disability backpay to be approved. After our office worked to get clarity and push the case forward, he was awarded $54,000 in backpay.

Also in Sierra Vista, Kimberly was hoping to travel abroad over the holidays to visit her family but had not received an update on her passport. We reached out to the State Department on her behalf, and she received her passport within one week, allowing her to be with her loved ones. These are just a few examples of how our office works every day to cut through delays and deliver results for constituents in need.

Our office has been honored to help countless veterans receive their hard-earned benefits, seniors access their Social Security, and families get their tax returns, as well as assist individuals with visa applications and passport expedites so they can be reunited with their loved ones. I am proud of my team’s work and am grateful to be able to deliver for AZ-06.

Speaking with DHS Secretary Mullin on AZ-06 Priorities.

Having a secure border is essential to ensuring our communities remain safe, which is why I have made border security a priority of mine in Congress . As Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, I had the opportunity to highlight our District’s priorities to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin during last week’s oversight hearing.

I offered Secretary Mullin questions regardingthe unique needs of AZ-06, including the modernization of the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales. Earlier this year, I sent a bipartisan letter to Secretary Mullin and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Rodney Scott, calling for urgent action on long-overdue improvements to the port’s infrastructure.

Our conversation also centered on the Department’s recovery of children who have gone missing at the border. When this Administration stepped in, there were 450,000 children missing at our border. They have since located147,000 of these children, an incredible achievement that has reunited countless families.

I am grateful for Secretary Mullin’s time and look forward to our continued partnership. I remain committed to pushing forward AZ-06 priorities that will strengthen our border security, including the DeConcini Port of Entry improvements.

Honoring the Winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition.

Every year, I have the honor of celebrating the talented winner of the Congressional Art Competition for AZ-06. Eyah Prior, upcoming senior at Buena High School in Sierra Vista, earned this year’s award and her artwork is now displayed in the United States Capitol, where it will remain for the next year.

I was pleased to join Eyah and her family in D.C. last week to celebrate her amazing accomplishment at the National Awards Reception and Winner's Celebration. We were able to see Eyah's piece titled 'The Feeling of Sunshine' hung up in our nation’s Capitol, a very exciting moment for Eyah and her family.

Recognizing Outstanding Members of the Community.

I’m proud to honor the achievements of Chloe Mayfield and Anastasia Bradley both from Tucson and both Congressional Gold Medalists.

Earning a Congressional Gold Medal takes a great amount of work and commitment. It requires a minimum of 400 volunteer hours, significant personal development, and a strong desire to serve one’s community. I was pleased to have Chloe and Anastasia visit our D.C office to personally congratulate them on their achievement.

Chloe and Anastasia, thank you for committing so much of your time to those around you, to better the Tucson community. Congratulations again on earning a Congressional Gold Medal!

Ciscomani Advocates for Border Security and Trade with DHS Secretary Mullin

"During a House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee oversight hearing with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin and Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar, Congressman Juan Ciscomani advocated for Southeastern Arizona’s priorities, emphasizing the importance of border security, public safety, and legal immigration reform. Ciscomani, who represents a border district and serves as Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, underscored the need to maintain full operational control of the agency. Ciscomani opposes any attempts to weaken enforcement capabilities and is recognized as one of the most vocal advocates in Congress for fully funding DHS, modernizing ports of entry, and ensuring the department has the necessary resources to safeguard Arizonans from any threats against our homeland. Arizona opinion: Modernizing Nogales port is critical for regional economy

"Some leaders talk about border communities from a distance. Congressman Juan Ciscomani has taken the time to understand ours by being here. Before serving in Congress, Congressman Ciscomani was already working alongside the people who depend on the Nogales port every day, including small business owners, ranchers, retailers and logistics leaders. He did the same work we do, advocating for business owners at the chamber level, and learned firsthand that cross-border trade is not just policy. It is jobs, paychecks and economic stability for our region. That is why his leadership in advancing the modernization of the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry matters. For years, we have watched an aging facility hold back one of the country's busiest border crossings. The port handles millions of crossings each year and moves billions of dollars in goods, yet what exists today can no longer do the job. Congestion slows legal trade, puts pressure on officers and hurts our broader economy. Congressman Ciscomani has not stood on the sidelines. He brought together Republicans and Democrats to push federal agencies to prioritize upgrading this port. Ciscomani Advances $42M in Federal Investments; Secures Key Funding for Graham and Greenlee Counties

"U.S. Representative Juan Ciscomani announced a major legislative milestone following the full passage of all 12 Fiscal Year 2027 appropriations bills out of the House Appropriations Committee. As Arizona’s sole representative on the committee, Ciscomani successfully fought to preliminarily secure over $42 million in Community Project Funding (CPF) for 20 localized projects across the five counties of Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District. The aggressive, results-driven package prioritizes national security, border protection, and critical infrastructure while ensuring federal taxpayer dollars are routed directly back into rural Arizona communities. 'I take seriously my responsibility to protect taxpayer dollars, reduce wasteful spending, and ensure federal resources are directed toward priorities that deliver results for the American people,' said Rep. Ciscomani. 'From fixing aging infrastructure to supporting essential projects in our rural communities, these funds address real needs and deliver results.' While the sweeping appropriations bills impact the entire district, a significant portion of the newly advanced funding is aimed squarely at the Gila Valley and surrounding rural areas, delivering major wins for health care, public infrastructure, and emergency readiness in Graham and Greenlee counties."

Profiles of the American Dream.

Picking up a copy of The Arizona Republic on Independence Day 1951 would’ve set you back seven whole cents but you’d have purchased 20 black and white pages filled with interesting news to feast on while kicking back and enjoying the Fourth of July holiday.

Among the important events you’d have read about was a teeny little item from Bisbee on page three. It read, "Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maxwell are on a wedding trip in New Mexico. They were married here last Tuesday."

Fast forward 75 years. Chuck and Vi Maxwell are still with us, still happily married and their amazing journey was recounted recently in a very nice write-up in the Gila Herald.

The Maxwells celebrated their anniversary last week at the LDS Cultural Hall on Highway 70 in Pima, where they’ve made their home since 1994. Vi made the table arrangements.

"The grass is not greener elsewhere," she said when asked about the secret to a long marriage. "What you got is what you got. No one is perfect, be patient."

Chuck agreed. "Our generation saw the commitment of our parents and grandparents to each other and wanted that same commitment. Everyone has faults and shortcomings. Be patient."

Solid advice from two people who clearly know a thing or two on what it takes to have a successful marriage.
