Pima JTED CPF: Expanding Workforce Training.

Among the Community Project Funding (CPF) requests I have preliminarily secured for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY2027) is $2.7 million for Pima JTED, set to expand career and technical education and prepare students for high-demand careers across AZ-06.

I was joined by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Deputy Administrator Bill Briggs last week to see firsthand the impact this funding will have.

The $2.7 million will support the expansion of Pima JTED’s Innovation Tech High School campus and provide immediate benefits to programs in heavy equipment operation, construction technology, engineering, bioscience, sustainability, and other high-demand fields.

I am proud to fight for this funding and remain dedicated to providing federal support to ensure Pima JTED and other workforce training programs have the tools they need to serve students well.

Pinal Airpark CPF: Ensuring Military Readiness and Economic Development.

Along with a CPF visit to Pima JTED, I was grateful to join Pinal Airpark leadership last week to highlight $1.6 million in preliminarily secured funding which will advance the development of a new air traffic control tower. The funding will support site selection, environmental review, design, and the initial phases of construction, making a new air traffic control tower at Pinal Airpark a reality. This will address the airpark’s safety and operational needs while advancing military readiness and economic development.

Throughout my time in office, I have prioritized the airpark's need for a new air traffic control tower. This began in 2023 when I secured a provision in the federal aviation reauthorization package to expedite the development of an air traffic control tower. My amendment was included in the House-passed FAA reauthorization legislation, which advanced efforts to address Pinal Airpark’s need for dedicated air traffic control infrastructure.

I am proud to champion this investment in Pinal Airpark, to ensure military readiness, safety, and economic development at the major transportation hub.

Joining Kathleen Winn to Discuss CPF Visits and the District Work Period.

This August District Work Period has been focused on delivering results for AZ-06, through making CPF visits and meeting with local leaders.

I joined Kathleen Winn’s radio show last week to talk about all I’ve been up to these past several weeks and the federal funding I am fighting to secure for projects across the district.

As Arizona’s only appropriator in either the House or Senate, I am committed to bringing back real results to communities across AZ-06 through significant federal investments. I am proud to have preliminarily secured $42.7 million for 20 Community Project Funding (CPF) requests throughout the district and remain committed to advocating for these investments as they move through Congress.

Celebrating Small Businesses Across AZ-06.

I was honored to join the Marana Chamber last week for their Annual Meeting and Member Appreciation Luncheon, where I spoke to 200 attendees about the crucial role small businesses play in our economy and the importance of hiring military spouses.

This year’s meeting celebrated members who have been a part of the chamber anywhere from 10 years to 39 years. In the time they have been Marana Chamber members, these businesses have been providing services and support to communities throughout Southern Arizona.

Marana Chamber members are integral to Arizona’s small business community, and it was an honor to provide certificates for their anniversaries and recognize their achievements at this year’s meeting.

I look forward to my continued partnership with the Marana Chamber and everyone in Southern Arizona’s small business community.

Vice Chairman of the Military and Veteran Housing Caucus.

Since being elected to congress in 2023 it has been my top priority to find additional ways we can support our veterans and military servicemembers by introducing and passing critical legislation.

I am honored to have been appointed as Vice Chairman of the newly-launched Military and Veteran Housing Caucus (MVHC), to continue advocating for our nation’s heroes.

This caucus seeks to expand access to affordable housing and strengthen homeownership opportunities for America’s servicemembers, veterans, and military families.

Alongside the leadership of Rep. Pete Sessions, who will serve as Chairman, I look forward to what we will be able to accomplish for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our nation.

Statement on the DOI’s Colorado River Decision.

I have been a longstanding advocate for Arizona’s access to the Colorado River supply. Last week, the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) made an announcement regarding future management of the Colorado River, after which I released the following statement:

"Water is Arizona’s most precious resource. As Co-Chair of the bipartisan congressional Colorado River Caucus, my top priority is ensuring Arizona is treated fairly as we work toward a long-term agreement that protects our state’s bright future. I have spoken directly with Secretary Burgum multiple times throughout this process, including during his visit to Arizona, and I was clear on the need to protect Arizona’s water. My team and I are still reviewing today’s announcement from the Department of the Interior. This plan appears to avoid the most drastic options while incorporating several key provisions from the Lower Basin Proposal that we have urged the Department to adopt.

The goal is clear: long-term water certainty and security for Arizona. I will continue working with the Administration and bipartisan leaders at every level of government to protect this critical resource for our farmers, ranchers, businesses, tribes, and every Arizona family that relies on the Colorado River."

Arizona Water Deal Draws Mixed Reaction As State Takes Largest Colorado River Cut

"The Trump administration has finally come to an agreement with Arizona and the other Lower Basin states on Colorado River water usage. The news was met with a mixed reaction...Under the federal government’s proposal, Arizona would have seen cuts up to 77%. Under this deal, Arizona will lose about 61%: the most out of the Lower Basin states. While Arizona will give up 760,000 acre-feet between 2027 and 2028, California and Nevada will collectively lose 490,000 acre-feet. Overall, the cuts represent a reduction of approximately 25%. The Upper Basin states will not see cuts under this plan...Some of Arizona’s elected leaders issued stand-in statements in which they disclosed that they were still reviewing the plan. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06), co-chair of the congressional Colorado River Caucus, said that upon initial review the current plan avoids the 'most drastic options' previously announced by the Trump administration. However, Ciscomani intimated that long-term solutions were still lacking in this latest plan. 'The goal is clear: long-term water certainty and security for Arizona,' said Ciscomani. 'I will continue working with the Administration and bipartisan leaders at every level of government to protect this critical resource for our farmers, ranchers, businesses, tribes, and every Arizona family that relies on the Colorado River.'"

New building to help JTED teach AI-proof skills

"At the Pima JTED campus on South Park Avenue they are looking forward to a new building for the specialized learning there. JTED stands for Joint Technical Education District—and this is the part of tech that is probably safe from the tech of artificial intelligence. JTED students work with their brains–and their hands, learning the kind of skills AI can’t match right now, like custom welding and a wide range of construction and repair skills. Once construction is done, JTED will be expanding into a new workforce training building with more room and more specialized learning space than JTED could put in a conventional classroom. Congressman Juan Ciscomani was able to get three million dollars in funds to make the building possible. He says students have learned JTED can prep them for hands-on jobs without running up big student debts—and some of the jobs can pay 100 thousand a year. That means JTED needs more room for its programs."

Jeremy Sharpe builds the American Dream. Literally.

Jeremy is the president of the real estate development and management firm, Sharpe Development Group, and managing partner of the 3,000-acre master-planned community Rancho Sahuarita. The community celebrated its 25th anniversary earlier this year and is a driving force behind the explosive growth of the Town of Sahuarita.

"Southern Arizona is an extraordinary place − geographically, culturally and economically—and it is genuinely full of opportunity," Jeremy recently told Biz Tucson. "Growth, if executed intentionally, raises quality of life. It creates jobs, expands housing opportunities, strengthens the tax base that supports schools and public services, and attracts investment that compounds over time. But it requires leadership, collaboration and a shared belief that growth can benefit everyone."

Rancho Sahuarita was founded in 2001 by Jeremy’s late father Bob, a visionary developer who paid close attention to every detail of his project and fostered a sense of community with amenities like parks, clubhouses, trails and a lake. It has over 7,000 homes.

"When I was 12, my father gave me a copy of 'How to Win Friends and Influence People,'" Jeremy says. "I still have it on my shelf today.
