Mexican Gray Wolf Executive Order: Supporting AZ-06 Ranchers.

For years, Arizona ranchers have dealt with the issue of Mexican gray wolves killing their livestock. Recently, local ranchers have increasingly reported more instances of the wolves killing not only calves and weakened livestock, but mature cattle as well. I have been a longstanding advocate for our local ranchers on this issue, including co-sponsoring the Wolf and Livestock Fairness (WOLF) Act (H.R. 2227) to fully reimburse ranchers for any livestock killed or harmed by endangered Mexican gray wolves.

I am pleased by the Administration’s announcement of an executive order last week which takes the first step in removing the Mexican gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act protections. This will greatly benefit our local ranchers and help ensure they have the support they need at the federal level to continue successful ranching operations.

The executive order has already received widespread support from local stakeholders and agriculture leaders across Arizona. I look forward to how it will impact our agriculture industry and remain committed to advocating for ranchers across Arizona’s 6th District as they play such a crucial role in our communities and economy.

Kayleigh’s Law: Protecting Victims of Violent Crime.

Victims of violent crime should never have to worry about feeling unprotected from their offender. That’s why I am proud to have co-sponsored and voted to pass Kayleigh’s Law (H.R. 8481), which strengthens protections for survivors of violent crimes and federal sex offenses.

Kayleigh Kozak, an Arizona native and survivor of childhood sexual abuse, knows firsthand how crucial lifelong protections are for survivors. Her efforts to strengthen these protections is the reason this vital piece of legislation was introduced.

The bill will significantly benefit survivors by putting lifelong protections in place and removing the need for them to return to court in order to repeatedly renew protective orders that prohibit contact between the accused and the survivor.

I am especially grateful and honored to advocate for Kayleigh and other survivors of violent crimes through this legislation and look forward to it passing the Senate and eventually being signed into law by the President.

Keeping Our Government Funded.

I have never supported a government shutdown, either partial or full, because they have real consequences on real people. Last week, I voted in favor of a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government funded through December 4. After the CR passed the House, I released the following statement:

"Today, I voted for a bipartisan, temporary Continuing Resolution (CR) to prevent another government shutdown. A government shutdown is not a political game; it has REAL consequences. It disrupts pay for our troops, leaves CBP agents and law enforcement working without pay, and disrupts services for the nearly 80,000 veterans I have the privilege of representing.

As an appropriator, I know CRs are not ideal and can delay critical bipartisan work, including the $42.7 million in funding that has cleared the first major legislative hurdles to deliver critical investments to Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District.

I have NEVER supported a government shutdown—partial or full. Arizona families should not have to pay the price for Washington’s dysfunction. The House did the right thing today by coming together to keep the government open, keep essential services running, and continue delivering for Arizona."

I remain dedicated to keeping our government fully open, so that the people of AZ-06 and beyond don’t have to suffer the consequences of another shutdown.

Expanding Access to Higher Education.

There is no question that higher education continues to become more and more expensive. Many students throughout the nation have to take out significant student loans in order to pay for tuition, books, and other fees, causing them to graduate with large amounts of debt. Others decide not to receive higher education at all because they simply cannot afford it and don’t want to take on student loan debt.

In an effort to make higher education more affordable for American families, I joined Representative Susie Lee of Nevada to introduce the Earn to Learn Act. This bill would create a matched-savings program that has already proven successful in a number of states, including Arizona. It would further strengthen the Earn to Learn program’s success by enabling an estimated 250,000 scholarships throughout the span of five years, expanding access to higher education for many students across America.

I have supported Earn to Learn since Mrs. Hoffman first proposed it in the 2010s, and I am proud to reaffirm my support for the program by leading this effort, to ensure students in Southern Arizona and beyond have the resources and support they need to thrive.

House approves Ciscomani’s Kayleigh’s Law Act to protect victims

"A Republican-led bill cosponsored by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) requiring courts to issue no-contact orders for victims of certain violent or sex crimes passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday and now heads to the U.S. Senate. 'I am proud that the House came together in a bipartisan manner to advance this common-sense legislation and ensure victims of dangerous crimes can obtain lifetime protection from their abusers,' Rep. Ciscomani said. 'Survivors should never have to live with uncertainty about whether their abuser can contact them again.' The Kayleigh’s Law Act of 2026, H.R. 8481, which Rep. Ciscomani introduced on April 23 alongside bill sponsor U.S. Rep. Abraham Hamadeh (R-AZ) and 16 other GOP cosponsors, would establish a federal statutory framework to require federal courts to issue such orders. Under the framework, the no-contact order must be imposed at sentencing and be in effect for the lifetime of the defendant unless it is terminated or suspended in accordance with specified procedures."

Ciscomani Supports Temporary Funding Bill To Avoid Government Shutdown

"Congressman Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06) voted Tuesday in favor of a bipartisan continuing resolution to fund the federal government through December 11, citing the potential consequences of another shutdown for military personnel, law enforcement, and Arizona veterans. The House passed H.R. 6500, the 'Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2027' by a 370-48 vote. The measure was previously passed on August 8, by the Senate with a 90-6 vote before being sent to President Donald Trump, who signed it into law, September 2. The legislation provided fiscal year 2027 funding for federal agencies generally at current levels through December 11 and extends authorities for a range of federal programs, including surface transportation and veterans programs. Ciscomani, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, said he supported the temporary measure to prevent another shutdown while Congress continues negotiations over full-year appropriations bills. 'Today, I voted for a bipartisan, temporary Continuing Resolution (CR) to prevent another government shutdown. A government shutdown is not a political game; it has REAL consequences,' stated Ciscomani."

Tanque Verde Unified School District has been helping kids realize their American Dream for 140 years.

Let that sink in.

We have a school district on the eastern edge of Tucson that has been educating our children since 1886 – more than a quarter century before Arizona became a state. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated in 1886. Coca-Cola was invented in 1886. Geronimo surrendered in 1886.

Tanque Verde Unified School District is nearly as old as the University of Arizona.

To say a lot has happened since then would be an almost comical understatement. But here we are 140 years after the first rural school opened its doors in the Tanque Verde Valley and the district is still at it. They’re still providing children with the tools they need to get ahead. Still unlocking the doors of opportunity with the keys of learning.

Talk about a job well done!

To mark the momentous occasion, the district is hosting a community celebration and open house on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Tanque Verde High School. The theme of the event – Honoring the Past as We Look to the Future – is a nod to the district’s past while staying true to its core mission.

"The idea is to share the history and the progression of the district as far as the buildings, people and the types of curriculum — but then also to see where we’re going in the future," Kristie Stevens, the district’s communications director, told The Tucson Weekly.

Superintendent Scott Hageman called the 140th anniversary "a remarkable milestone" that underscores our community’s "deep-seated commitment to education."

If longevity is any indication, that commitment is rock solid.
