Gold Star Mother’s Day.

There is no greater sacrifice a family can make for our country than losing a child who gave their all in order to defend our freedoms. To all Gold Star Families across Southern Arizona, thank you for your incredible sacrifice. I cannot imagine the hurt you have endured, and I want to ensure that you are remembered and honored by our local community and across the country.

In honor of this Gold Star Mother’s Day, which was recognized on Sunday, I was proud to join a number of my colleagues to introduce H.Res. 1552, which recognizes September 20 through September 26, 2026, as "Gold Star Families Remembrance Week," prioritizing the remembrance of these families and what they have sacrificed for our nation.

I remain committed to ensuring Gold Star Families are recognized, supported, and remembered not just on these solemn days, but throughout the year. Because of their sacrifices and the ultimate price their children paid while serving our nation, our freedoms are protected. There is no amount of gratitude which can repay them, but it is our responsibility to keep their legacies alive through honoring and remembering their service.

Prioritizing Arizona’s Water.

Arizona has unique water challenges which require working across party lines to address. I am proud to be ranked the most bipartisan member of the Arizona delegation for the second consecutive Congress, working across the aisle to tackle our region’s most pressing water issues.

Most recently, I voted in favor of the bipartisan Water Resources Development Act of 2026 (H.R. 9497), which passed the House last week by a vote of 415-9. The bill includes provisions I secured that will allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to launch new water projects throughout the state, strengthen our region’s water supply, improve flood protection, and better prepare our communities for drought.

The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) is typically passed every two years, authorizing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to start new water projects and updates policies for existing programs. While WRDA doesn’t provide funding directly, it makes projects eligible for future federal funding, which is crucial for the health of Arizona’s 6th District.

I am proud to have championed provisions included in this year’s WRDA and remain committed to ensuring Arizona has the resources it needs to address water challenges head-on.

Continuing to Protect Our Wild Horses.

As Co-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Wild Horse Caucus, my prioroty is to ensure our wild horses are protected. After hearing serious concerns that federally protected wild horses have entered the slaughter pipeline, I am proud to have co-led 17 of my colleagues in a bipartisan, bicameral letter urging the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Sale Program.

My colleagues and I are asking GAO to conduct an independent review of BLM’s sale authority, purchaser screening and monitoring practices, enforcement procedures, and compliance with federal laws and congressional directives, to ensure these animals are being adequately protected.

Advocating for Expanded Connectivity in Rural Arizona.

I am proud to join the 5G and Beyond Caucus, a bipartisan effort to expand connectivity. For Southern Arizona, reliable internet access is increasingly essential. As schools, health care providers, businesses, and government services continue moving online, reliable broadband is a necessity for families and communities to stay connected and access the opportunities that come with today’s digital economy.

Connectivity for rural communities has long been a priority of mine. My efforts to keep the rural communities of Southern Arizona connected includes working across party lines to introduce the Connecting Our Neighbors to Networks and Ensuring Competitive Telecommunications (CONNECT) Act in the 118th Congress. This legislation is aimed at improving access to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s ReConnect Loan and Grant Program to make federal broadband funding more accessible for small providers, local governments, nonprofits, and cooperatives, while also streamline permitting requirements to expedite broadband projects in rural areas.

Celebrating Our Public Lands.

Public Lands Day, which was celebrated this past Saturday, is an opportunity every year to recognize the immense value our public lands offer to our local communities and all who travel to visit them. This year, I was proud to join a bipartisan resolution recognizing the vital significance of our nation’s public lands.

This resolution calls on all Americans to visit, celebrate, and help preserve these irreplaceable natural resources. National Public Lands Day, observed each year on the fourth Saturday of September, serves as a national rallying point to honor the recreational and economic benefits our public lands provide to Arizonans.

Throughout my time in office, I have been a strong advocate of our public lands and believe they should be protected at all costs. In congress, I have co-led the bipartisan Public Lands Integrity Act and introducing the Chiricahua National Park Act, which has now passed by the House, I have worked to ensure our public lands remain protected so that future generations can continue to enjoy these unique and beautiful areas.

As Vice Chair of the Conservative Climate Caucus and an active member of the Public Lands Caucus, I remain dedicated to safeguarding Arizona’s natural heritage by ensuring these lands are properly preserved.

Upcoming Veteran Servant Leader Awards.

Since day one of being in office, I have been a champion of veterans. In the 119th Congress alone, I have introduced and led four veterans-focused bills that have passed the House. AZ-06 is home to nearly 80,000 veterans and supporting each and every one is a high priority for me.

As part of my effort to give back to our veterans here in southeastern Arizona, I have hosted five Veteran Servant Leader Award events. These events honor veterans who have continued to serve their communities after their time spent serving our nation. My office and I have been able to award dozens of veterans through these five events, and we are looking forward to our sixth which will be held next month.

If you know a veteran in AZ-06 who is dedicated to giving back to their community and embodies the values of duty, service, and commitment that are at the core of our military, we invite you to nominate them for our sixth Veteran Servant Leader Awards! Nominations will be accepted through next Monday, October 5.

You can read more about the most recent Veteran Servant Leader Awards HERE and nominate a veteran HERE.

Ciscomani Champions House Passage of Water Bill, Securing Wins for Southern Arizona
The Gila Herald
"U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ06) celebrated the bipartisan passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2026 in the House on Monday, highlighting key provisions designed to strengthen water infrastructure, flood management, and drought resilience across Southern Arizona. The broad water infrastructure package (H.R. 9497) passed the House in an overwhelmingly bipartisan 415-9 vote. Reauthorized by Congress typically every two years, WRDA authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to launch new water projects and update guidelines for existing programs. While the legislation does not directly appropriate funds, it makes designated projects eligible to receive future federal funding. 'Southern Arizona leads the way in water conservation, and I’m fighting every day to make sure we stay ahead,' Ciscomani said in a statement following the vote. 'This bill is a direct result of listening to our communities, turning Arizona priorities into action, and getting things done. I fought hard to secure crucial provisions that will strengthen the infrastructure families rely on in our district, safeguard Pinal County from devastating floods, invest in Tucson’s water future, and deliver resources for rural communities.'"

Tucson Speaks Out: September 22
Arizona Daily Star
"As a parent, I want my kids to receive an education now that will prepare them for success later. That’s why it means so much that Juan Ciscomani has continually worked to strengthen education here in Southern Arizona. His efforts to bring federal funding to our schools mean critical support for teachers and staff, and better education for each child. From securing $1.8 million for affordable teacher housing and $1 million for an improved community center in Casa Grande, to supporting a $10 million increase for the Head Start program, to fighting for $2.7 million to expand workforce training at Pima JTED, Ciscomani is committed to providing critical support for our students and schools. I am grateful for Ciscomani’s continued efforts to invest in students and their futures. These funds mean a better education and a brighter future for children across Southern Arizona."

Ciscomani Joins Bipartisan Call For Investigation Into Federal Wild Horse Sales
AZ Free News
"Congressman Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06) joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers calling for a federal investigation into the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Wild Horse and Burro Sale Program. The lawmakers cited concerns that federally protected animals are entering the slaughter pipeline. Ciscomani, co-chair of the Congressional Wild Horse Caucus, co-led 17 congressional colleagues in requesting that the Government Accountability Office (GAO) conduct an independent review of the program. The lawmakers are asking the GAO to examine how the BLM uses its authority to sell wild horses and burros, including how prospective buyers are screened, what happens to animals after they are sold, and how the agency responds when animals appear at auctions or facilities associated with the slaughter industry. 'It’s long past time to fix the ongoing failures in how America’s wild horses are managed,' stated Ciscomani. 'For years, across both Republican and Democrat administrations, we’ve seen alarming reports of hostility toward these animals and serious questions about how the Bureau of Land Management is carrying out its responsibilities. This cannot be a partisan issue. It’s a stewardship issue. I’m proud to join this bipartisan effort to demand accountability, protect our wild horses, and push for real solutions that address the problem head-on.'"

Profiles of the American Dream.

Felipe Garcia feels a sense of accomplishment when CNN Travel publishes a story on their website about Tucson’s Sonoran hot dogs.

He’s filled with pride when The New York Times runs a story with a headline proclaiming that Tucson is "A City for Outdoor Lovers."

And he is brimming with the joy of a proud father when a television show marches a small army into the Old Pueblo for weeks of filming, occupying rooms in our hotels, eating in our restaurants and supporting our local businesses.

As the president and CEO of Visit Tucson, Filipe’s job is to get people to come and visit Arizona’s second largest city. It’s a job he takes very seriously. Filipe is a tireless promoter of his adopted hometown, driven by the firm belief that Tucson is a world class destination for vacationers, conference goers and, yes, TV crews.

And considering the staggering amount of money visitors pump into the local economy, Filipe knows that tourism is a mutually beneficial two-way street.

"Tourism marketing is economic development," he told BizTucson magazine recently.

Born and raised in Monterey, Mexico, Filipe came to Tucson in 1993 and in 2021 was named to the top job at Visit Tucson, a non-profit that provides destination marketing services for the City of Tucson and Pima County.

He scored a major success last year when Tucson was named one of best places to travel.

"This acknowledgment reflects the incredible work of our community and partners to create unforgettable experiences for visitors while preserving the rich history and vibrant culture that makes Tucson truly special," he said.
