Chiricahua National Park Act: One Step Away from Law.
Arizona is one signature away from getting its fourth national park. My bipartisan Chiricahua National Park Act (H.R. 6380) passed the Senate last week and now goes to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
Designating Chiricahua National Monument as Arizona’s fourth national park means a great deal for Arizona’s 6th District and our whole state. This moment has been in the making for over a decade. During my first 100 days in Congress, I introduced The Chiricahua National Park Act as my second-ever bill, and since then, I have worked across the aisle with leaders and advocates throughout Southern Arizona to turn this priority into a reality.
Chiricahua is a Southern Arizona treasure. Every year, it draws visitors from across the country to experience its incredible landscapes, wildlife, and history. Designating Chiricahua as a national park would help boost tourism, support local businesses, and create new economic opportunities throughout the region.
More than a designation, this win is about recognizing the significance of Chiricahua, protecting this unique public land, and ensuring use and enjoyment of this natural treasure for generations to come.
After years of work and advocacy, we are now just ONE step away from making Chiricahua Arizona’s fourth national park.

CPF Visit: $2 Million for Sierra Vista’s Buffalo Soldier Trail.
I was proud to join Sierra Vista Mayor Clea McCaa and other local leaders to visit Buffalo Soldier Trail and discuss the $2 million in federal funding I secured for the design and reconstruction of this critical roadway, which builds on the $10.79 million already delivered for the project in previous years.
This federally classified Minor Arterial Roadway is a critical connection between State Routes 90 and 92, seeing nearly 20,000 vehicles per day and currently serving as the main gateway to both Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca. The funding will kickstart long-overdue pavement improvements to ensure travel along the roadway remains safe and efficient.
Prior to my visit, I was honored to attend the Cochise County Mayor and Manager Luncheon to outline how this $2 million investment will impact Sierra Vista and surround communities.
I am proud to have fought for this funding and look forward to my continued partnership with Mayor McCaa and other Sierra Vista leaders to deliver real results for their communities.

Importance of ATF K-9 Operations in Southern Arizona.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) plays a critical role in keeping our communities safe. I was proud to visit the Tucson Police Department’s Rillito Police Station to watch a K-9 demonstration from one of their four-legged "agents" named Kali.
The demonstration highlighted Kali and the department’s work with live explosives detection, showcasing how highly trained K-9s help federal and local agencies detect explosives and narcotics, keep Southern Arizona safe.
The demonstration also underscored the broader mission of the ATF, which is part of the U.S. Department of Justice and responsible for combating violent crime involving the illegal use of firearms, explosives, and arson. This federal agency partners with federal, Arizona state, and local law enforcement agencies to employ crime gun intelligence, forensic analysis, and targeted investigations used to identify violent offenders and disrupt firearms trafficking networks, while also preventing dangerous weapons and explosives from reaching our communities.
I am grateful for the work the ATF does here in Southern Arizona, especially that of its hardworking K-9s like Kali. I look forward to continuing to support their efforts on the federal level to ensure they have the resources necessary to keep the communities of Arizona’s 6th District safe.

Celebrating Legislative Victory for Service Dogs.
Service dogs should be allowed to go everywhere with their owners, including work. Earlier this year, I led a successful bipartisan effort to secure clearer federal guidelines for service dogs in university and other research facility laboratories. I began this effort after hearing concerns from Joey Ramp-Adams and others who faced barriers caused by an outdated loophole from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.
I wanted to ensure these Americans would never again face exclusion from STEM fields or research environments because of outdated policies. After continuously pressing federal agencies to take action, federal guidance was finally revised to affirm that service animals are allowed in laboratory settings, with access determined by individualized risk assessments instead of discriminatory blanket bans.
This update both reinforced the protection of service animals through disability accommodations and established that access decisions must be anchored in individualized risk assessments. This in turn has opened doors for students, veterans, and researchers with disabilities nationwide, and stands as a testament to the power of determined leadership and persistent advocacy.

Albers Aerospace expands Tucson site, plans to double staff
KVOA
"According to company officials, Albers Aerospace celebrated the grand opening of its expanded Tucson facility on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The expansion nearly triples the company's local square footage and will allow for at least 25 new employees, which doubles its current headcount...As part of the grand opening celebration, the company presented an $11,500 donation to the Pima Community College Foundation for student scholarships. Albers, a retired Marine, noted that trade workers are essential to the company's mission to rebuild the domestic defense manufacturing base. Pima County District 1 Supervisor Rex Scott and U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani joined local leaders to congratulate the veteran-owned company. Ciscomani presented Albers Aerospace with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition. The new facility, which began full operations in July, is expected to help boost the regional economy through its expanded tax base."
Senate approves Ciscomani’s bill to establish fourth national park in Arizona The Ripon Advance "The U.S. Senate on Sept. 30 passed a bipartisan bill introduced by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) that would establish the fourth national park in Arizona and the measure is now headed to the president’s desk to be signed into law. The Chiricahua National Park Act, H.R. 6380, which Rep. Ciscomani sponsored in December 2025, would officially redesignate Cochise County’s iconic Chiricahua National Monument as a 12,000-acre national park. 'Chiricahua has long deserved this designation. As the second bill I ever introduced and in my first 100 days in Congress, I am proud to have worked across the aisle and across both chambers to deliver this victory for our district,' Rep. Ciscomani said. 'This is an Arizona priority and a true team effort.' 'I'm incredibly proud that we are now one signature away from making Chiricahua Arizona Sixth Congressional District’s second national park during our nation’s 250th birthday,' added the congressman. Under H.R. 6380, the 102-year-old Chiricahua National Monument would be redesignated as the Chiricahua National Park. The bill would direct the National Park Service (NPS) to ensure the protection of traditional cultural and religious sites in the park, and provide access to those sites by members of Indian tribes for traditional cultural and customary uses."

Profiles of the American Dream.
The word legend gets used a lot in the sports world these days and every so often it’s an accurate description of someone whose extraordinary accomplishments are truly deserving of the term.
Frank Busch was a legit legend. As one of the nation’s top collegiate, national and Olympic swimming coaches, he shaped scores of young men and women into high performing athletes. He helped them realize their American Dream.
Coach Busch unexpectedly passed away last month in Phoenix at age 75 while returning home from a fishing trip to Idaho. He leaves behind a monumental list of accomplishments.
From 1989 to 2011, Coach Busch ran the swimming program at the University of Arizona, leading both the men's and women's teams to a national championship in 2008. His swimmers won 49 NCAA individual titles and 31 NCAA relay titles. He earned NCAA Coach of the Year honors six times and was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year 11 times.
Coach Busch was with Team USA for the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and in 2011began serving as USA Swimming's National Team Director. Under his leadership, USA Swimming won 31 medals at the 2012 London Games and 33 medals at the 2016 Rio Games.
"Coach Busch was a legend in swimming and an important part of Arizona's history," UA Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois said. "He was a gentleman, a mentor and a powerful leader. His legacy is a reminder that our impact as leaders lives on through the people we invest in, encourage and believe in."
