Celebrating Chiricahua National Park!
It’s now been a week since Chiricahua became Arizona’s fourth national park, and we are still celebrating! This historic win for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District will boost tourism, support local businesses, and bring new jobs to Southern Arizona.
This is proof that persistence and hard work pays off. I cannot wait for the real impact Chiricahua National Park will have on our local communities and am proud that this beautiful landscape will now be better preserved, so locals and tourists can enjoy it for generations to come!

Honoring and Remembering Senator Jon Kyl.
Laura and I had the privilege of attending Senator Jon Kyl’s memorial on Saturday. Senator Kyl was a friend, mentor and had a significant impact on our state for many years.
He truly embodied the word ‘statesman,’ prioritizing the needs of Arizona and working diligently to deliver for our communities. Senator Kyl was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He served as an excellent example of taking care of your family first and foremost while serving in office.
At the memorial, I was honored to present the Kyl family with a congressional record in remembrance of his life and legacy.
To Caryll and the whole family, Laura and I are deeply sorry for your loss and continue to keep you in prayer.
Senator Kyl, thank you for your dedication to serving our state and the impact you made on so many, including myself. Your legacy of selfless public service and devotion to God, family, and country.

Highlighting Investments in Arizona Copper Production.
Southern Arizona has a pivotal role in restoring U.S. mineral independence. I was proud to spend time highlighting investments in our region’s copper production last week at Gunnison Copper’s Johnson Camp Mine, joined by U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
The visit included a dedication ceremony, a tour of the copper operation, and forward-looking discussions on strengthening the United States’ future through domestic critical mineral production, starting right here in Southern Arizona.
Gunnison Copper marked the event by announcing wage increases and equity stakes for employees, underscoring how investment in workers is essential to building a resilient domestic supply chain for critical minerals. The event also featured the unveiling of a monument honoring the enduring values of country, service, hard work, and shared responsibility, which will serve as a permanent gathering place for employees and visitors to reflect on these principles in their work.
Throughout my time in office, I have worked to strengthen Arizona’s mining industry, including fighting to secure a historic $20 million investment for the University of Arizona’s School of Mining Engineering and Mineral Resources, to support research, workforce development, and the expansion of the San Xavier Underground Mining Laboratory.
I remain committed to ensuring Arizona remains a leader in domestic critical mineral production, and I am grateful for my partnership with local organizations like Gunnison Copper to make this possible.

Fighting for Fort Huachuca.
Fort Huachuca is a vital part of the Southern Arizona community. I was proud to join Fort Huachuca 50 for their annual dinner last week and deliver the keynote address to celebrate the installation’s success and importance and reaffirm my commitment to the military community and the families who call the region home.
In Congress, I have been a relentless champion for Fort Huachuca, working to build strong partnerships with federal and military leaders to secure its future. Most recently, I helped secure a new United States Space Force mission to the installation, underscoring its vital role in both Southern Arizona’s strength and our national defense. As Cochise County’s largest employer, Fort Huachuca fuels Arizona’s economy while also standing at the forefront of our nation’s military strength.
Throughout my time in office, I have backed more than $21.9 million in federal funding for Cochise County through Community Project Funding. For this upcoming year, I championed $7.3 million for the county. I remain dedicated to working with Fort Huachuca, local leaders, and community partners to advocate for military families, drive economic growth, and deliver lasting results for Cochise County and its residents.

Connecting with Community Builders.
The Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA) plays a vital role in Arizona’s 6th District. They are committed to helping build the future of our communities by preparing the next generation of workers.
That is why I introduced the CONSTRUCTS Act (H.R. 1055) to expand access to trade schools and help more Arizonans pursue careers in the skilled trades. This legislation prioritizes training tomorrow’s leaders for success.
I was proud to join SAHBA for their annual Government Affairs Breakfast, to speak about the CONSTRUCTS Act and other work I am doing in Congress to strengthen community building efforts and give the next generation of workers the support they need to thrive as they move Southern Arizona forward.

Spending Time with the Wildcat Community.
I had the pleasure of joining the University of Arizona leadership on Friday for the State of the University Luncheon. President Suresh Garimella and other university and community leaders spoke on the work being done to support students, strengthen academic assistance, and help the Wildcat community continue to grow and thrive.
The University of Arizona remains a vital part of the Southern Arizona community. I look forward to continuing to partner with university leadership to ensure the university has the tools and resources it needs to serve its students well.

Rep. Ciscomani Welcomes Interior Secretary Burgum to Gunnison Copper’s Johnson Camp Mine in Southern Arizona, Highlights Investments in American Copper Production
Gila Herald
"In a powerful display of partnership and progress, Representative Juan Ciscomani and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum met at Gunnison Copper’s Johnson Camp Mine on Tuesday to highlight Southern Arizona’s leadership in American mining. The occasion featured a dedication ceremony, an in-depth tour of the copper operation, and forward-looking discussions on strengthening the nation’s future through domestic critical mineral production. 'It was a privilege to join Secretary Burgum at Gunnison Copper today to celebrate the resurgence of domestic copper production, with Arizona leading the way,' said Representative Juan Ciscomani. 'Copper is a vital part of Arizona’s Five C’s and an essential resource for our economy and national security. In Congress, I have championed efforts to strengthen domestic mining, expand American production, and reduce our reliance on foreign sources. I’m incredibly grateful for the continued partnership with Gunnison Copper and its valuable contributions to Arizona’s economy and America’s mineral independence.'"
Ciscomani’s Chiricahua National Park Act Signed Into Law Arizona Daily Independent "Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) celebrated a historic victory for southeastern Arizona today as President Donald Trump signed his Chiricahua National Park Act (H.R. 6380) into law, officially establishing Arizona’s fourth national park and the second in the Sixth Congressional District. The designation marks the culmination of nearly a decade of bipartisan efforts to protect one of Arizona’s most remarkable natural landmarks while expanding tourism and economic opportunities throughout Cochise County."
Ciscomani leads celebration of new Chiricahua National Park in Cochise County
Tucson Sentinel "Backed by a towering 'Wonderland of Rocks,' U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani celebrated the signing of a long-sought measure to create Chiricahua National Park in Southeastern Arizona. The bill to upgrade the former Chiricahua National Monument became law Tuesday. Ciscomani was joined by Interior Secretary Burgum and Willcox Mayor Greg Hancock to mark the occasion, along with the monument's Superintendent Bud Kaiser, and about 50 supporters. Championed by Ciscomani, H.R. 6830 passed the Senate on Sept. 30, and was sent to the White House last week. On Tuesday, while Burgum joined Ciscomani in Arizona, President Donald Trump signed the bill into law, transforming Cochise County’s 12,000-acre national monument into a national park. The celebration took place roughly an hour after Trump signed the bill into law Tuesday afternoon."

Profiles of the American Dream.
Climb aboard the time machine for a quick trip back through history to October 1954 – Saturday, the 16th of October, to be exact.
In Washington, President Dwight Eisenhower was just days away from his first midterm election and watching his Republican Party lose its majority in both chambers of Congress.
In Louisiana, a 19-year-old Elvis Presley was on the threshold of a major career boost thanks to a live radio performance featuring "Blue Moon of Kentucky" and "That’s Alright Mama."
And out in California, movie icon Marilyn Monroe had just filed for divorce from baseball legend Joe DiMaggio after nine rocky months of marriage.
All significant events, to be sure. But Marge Snooks and Dick Eggerding can be forgiven if they weren’t all-in with the big political and celebrity news of the day. They had something more important on their minds.
Marge and Dick were getting married.
Big deal, right? Why should we care? People get married all the time.
Thing is, the Oro Valley couple is still married and they just celebrated their 72nd anniversary.
Granted, lasting longer than Monroe and DiMaggio is a pretty low bar. But 72 years!? It doesn’t happen often. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only one-tenth of 1 percent of all marriages hit 70 years or more, and even fewer make it to the 72 mark.
What’s the secret?
There are two, Dick told the Explorer newspaper. "First, our marriage is faith-based and includes a God-driven formula," he said. "Second, the word 'commitment' is fundamental."
According to Marge, "I believe that appreciation and admiration are vital to a marriage," she said. "Beyond that, never giving up on each other."
Happy anniversary, Marge and Dick. You are a true inspiration.
