Dear Community Member,
I continue my fight with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to reduce jet noise in California’s 19th Congressional District. Jet noise can cause disruptions and disability to those in our community. That’s why I’m authoring and introducing legislation for quieter skies and to ensure that you have a voice in the aviation policies that impact our lives.
Before I became a U.S. Representative in 2017, the FAA implemented the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) which changed the routes of airplanes on their approach to several airports in the Bay Area. Unfortunately, this subjected certain communities on the central coast of California to increased commercial jet flights and jet noise.
I have continued to listen to you, but, more importantly, act based on your concerns. As a Member of the Congressional Quiet Skies Caucus, I have been working with my colleagues in an attempt to mitigate jet noise. I recently authored and introduced several pieces of legislation to reduce jet noise in California’s 19th Congressional District. I believe that through my legislation, we can begin to remedy this issue.

As we work to reduce excessive jet noise, I’m also trying to ensure that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is responsive to your needs. Too often, and understandably, some residents feel that they have no voice in the decisions by the FAA. Compounding matters, I’ve heard about the lack of options available at the FAA for people to provide them with ideas and opinions about flight paths and jet noise.
The FAA should be open, transparent, and accountable. That’s why I will continue to work to ensure that the FAA is accountable to our community and listening to our voices.

As your United States Representative, I will continue to fight to ensure that the FAA addresses our communities’ concerns and remedies this persistent problem.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Panetta United States Representative 19th Congressional District, California |
