Dear Community Member,
Earlier this month, the Almaden Valley Post Office in South San Jose was heavily damaged. With the understanding that this particular post office meant more to the local community than just a place to send and receive mail, I immediately began to press the United States Postal Service (USPS) to begin rebuilding.
The Almaden Valley Post Office was a daily touchpoint for many who rely on timely medication deliveries, for small businesses that depend on affordable shipping, and for working families who need a trusted place to access essential government services. In communities like Almaden Valley and across South San Jose, Post Offices are an important part of our lives.
That’s why I’m working hard to make sure that the USPS immediately starts to, not just repair and rebuild what was lost, but also works to serve you better throughout the process.
This week, I sent a letter to Postmaster General David Steiner to:
- Provide a clear, public timeline for rebuilding and reopening the Almaden Valley Post Office
- Expand mail pickup hours so residents don’t have to choose between work and accessing their mail
- Maintain close communication with my office and our community during the rebuilding process

My job as your U.S. Representative is to ensure that the federal government works for you. That means holding federal agencies, like the USPS, accountable when their service falls short, and advocating for practical solutions when disaster strikes.
As always, I will continue to stand up for South San Jose and for a Post Office that’s open, near, and fully functional. I will continue pushing for action from the USPS until the Almaden Valley Post Office is fully restored.
If you have any questions, whatsoever, please feel free to contact my South San Jose Office located at 841 Blossom Hill Road, Suite 209 or 408-960-0333. Thank you and I hope to continue my service to you and the people of California’s 19th Congressional District.
Sincerely,

Jimmy Panetta
United States Representative
19th Congressional District, California
