It's week four of the federal government shutdown and Speaker Johnson still refuses to call Congress back into session. Thus, Speaker Johnson refuses to work, refuses to negotiate, and refuses to find a bipartisan pathway forward that would reopen the government, protect healthcare, and lower prices.

Meanwhile, many hardworking families are getting ready for the open enrollment period for their healthcare coverage and seeing astronomical price increases, some as much as over a $1,000 per month increase. I'm fighting in Washington, D.C. and here at home to stop these price hikes from happening and permanently extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that help keep your healthcare costs down.

If Speaker Johnson, Leader John Thune, and President Donald Trump get their way and the ACA tax credits end, nearly 33,000 of our friends and neighbors in California’s 19th Congressional District will see their health costs go up and more than 28,000 people will completely lose their health coverage. Democrats and Republicans must work together to stop giving billionaires the largest tax cut in history while our working families pay thousands more for their healthcare coverage.
