Dear Community Members,
My wrestling coach in high school told me, "once you make your mark in the world, watch out for those with the erasers."
The Administration released a proposal yesterday that would open up the California coast to oil drilling. This is a blatant attempt to erase our local, state, and federal protections for the beauty and bounty that we have here and hold dear in the 19th Congressional District.

This isn't the first time that this President has tried to drill for oil off our coast. During his first Administration, the President tried to do the same thing. But our community came together. We stood shoulder to shoulder, and went toe to toe with the Administration, putting up legal, political, and logistical barriers that saved our coastline.
We must continue our fight. I'm working with my colleagues in the House of Representatives, in the Senate, as well as with community leaders at all levels, to push back on this Administration's plan to drill off our coast. I'm counting on all of you to join us in this fight for our home.

Rep. Panetta joined his colleagues on a zoom press conference
following the release of the proposal. To watch, click the photo above or here. |
Soon, there also will be a public comment period, where you will have the opportunity to submit your thoughts and concerns directly to the Administration.
In the meantime, will you join me in our fight to protect our California coastline? If so, please press HERE.
Follow me on facebook, x, or bluesky to keep updated on when that comment period opens so you can let the Administration know that the California coastline is not the East Wing of the White House. It's our home, and we're going to fight to protect it.
Sincerely,

Jimmy Panetta United States Representative 19th Congressional District, California
