A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN KAMLAGER-DOVE:
Dear Friend,
I had a wonderful week back in Los Angeles! As I head back to Washington, D.C., I will continue to bring your voices to Congress and fight for your priorities.
The most important issue this upcoming work period will be the debt limit. On Monday, I spoke on Spectrum News' 'Inside the Issues' to discuss the importance of passing a clean debt limit bill that puts American families first and doesn't send our country into default. Right now, Republicans have put us on a crash course to economic catastrophe. It is shameful of them to play games with our economy by pushing for legislation that proposes disastrous cuts for California families.
During my interview, I spoke with Cassie Semyon about the GOP’s plan for our debt limit. Their bill cuts critical programs American families need to live by attacking Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and SNAP. We need to work together to pass a clean debt limit bill that doesn't put American lives at risk or endanger the health of our economy.

On Tuesday morning, I gathered with business executives, international trade partners, Rep. Judy Chu, Lt. Governor Kounalakis, and other valued community members at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate World Trade Week. Los Angeles' bustling trade sector is important for our international trading ties and the growth of local business. I thank the LA Chamber for everything they do for our businesses and will continue working alongside them to ensure Angelenos have access to the goods they need.

I was glad to speak with commerce and trading experts on the importance of shoring up the future of our supply chains.
I was so excited to join faculty, staff, students, and job placement specialists at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the first ever Employment and Career Success Center on campus. This resource will help bridge the critical gap between education and employment, all while preparing students to become part of Los Angeles' growing workforce. In Congress, I will continue to advocate for students to ensure they have access to critical programming like this.

Access to educational and career resources are vital for students' success. I look forward to continuing to celebrate the accomplishments of students out of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College!
I introduced a resolution with the rest of my Foster Youth Caucus colleagues to officially recognize May as National Foster Care Month. This resolution will uplift foster care issues, highlight the importance of permanency for every child, and recognize the essential role that foster parents, social workers, and advocates have in the lives of children in the foster care system.

Lastly, today, I introduced a resolution to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the 1992 Los Angeles riots. This resolution helps us honor the thousands injured during the unrest and offers condolences to those who lost their lives. It also highlights the continued need for police accountability since the brutal beating of Rodney King and acknowledges the continued suffering of Black Americans who still reckon with the deaths of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tyre Nichols, and so many more. As we mark 31 years since the 1992 riots, I hope for greater unity and civility for our city and the nation.
