A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN KAMLAGER-DOVE:
Dear Friend,
I have heard your concerns about the high cost of health care and the barriers that underinsured individuals face. The open enrollment period for health insurance plans began earlier this week – offering affordable health care coverage to millions across our nation. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), folks in CA-37 will be saving almost $1,000 a year when they enroll in insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Without the IRA, the average premium would have increased to $2,920, an increase of 49%.
If you are in need of insurance, enroll in a marketplace insurance plan now by visiting HealthCare.gov or Coveredca.com, our state's insurance marketplace, to compare plans and choose the one that works for you.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
- November 1 - Open enrollment begins
- January 31 - Open enrollment ends for Californians seeking coverage from Covered California
OPEN ENROLLMENT SEASON HAS BEGUN
Open enrollment season has started. If you wish to enroll in a health care plan to ensure coverage for 2024, visit HealthCare.gov or Coveredca.com to find the right plan for you. Four out of five Americans will be able to find a plan for under $10 a month thanks to ACA expansion through the IRA. In 2023, more than 16 million Americans enrolled in ACA marketplace plans – the most Americans to ever enroll. Our national uninsured rate dropped to a record-low of 8% as of 2022, making huge strides for underinsured Americans. Californians have until January 31, 2024 to enroll in their chosen plan, and with the help of provisions in the IRA, residents in CA-37 will save an average of $960 per year. I will continue to fight for lower costs for you because everyone deserves access to quality health care to stay healthy and to go to providers they can trust.
