Eyvin Hernandez is Home
with his Family

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN KAMLAGER-DOVE:

Dear Friend,

This week, I was so glad to hear the news that my constituent, Eyvin Hernandez, was released after he spent nearly two years in wrongful detention in Venezuela. Since I came to Congress, I have been advocating for his release and introduced a resolution earlier this year to draw attention to his case. Through careful diplomatic negotiations administered by the State Department and the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, Eyvin Hernandez is home with his family — just in time for the holidays.

EYVIN HERNANDEZ'S RELEASE

Eyvin Hernandez is a Los Angeles County Public Defender, UCLA Law School alum, and constituent of California's 37th District. Yesterday, he safely returned home to his family after almost two years in detention. His release was the result of a prisoner exchange earlier this week between the United States and Venezuela, and I thank President Biden for his work in releasing Eyvin and other wrongfully detained Americans. I made it my mission to get Eyvin released and was glad to work with my colleagues in a bipartisan manner to introduce a resolution calling for his release, pass it out of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and advocate on his behalf to secure his release.

I want to thank Congresswoman Young Kim, Congresswoman Nanette Barragán, Congressman Joaquin Castro, and Senators Padilla and Butler for advocating for Eyvin alongside me. My office will continue to support Eyvin and his family as he adjusts to life back home in CA-37.
