Delivering Federal Funding for our Community

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN KAMLAGER-DOVE:

Dear Friend,

We finally have some good news from Congress: our government is fully funded through the end of the 2024 Fiscal Year! Better yet, my office was able to secure $12.4 million in funding for 15 projects across our community through this funding process.

In another win for our community, efforts to secure federal disaster relief support in wake of this winter's storms are moving forward. This week, I joined 50 of my California Congressional colleagues in signing a letter to President Biden urging him to grant Governor Newsom’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration for counties across the state, including Los Angeles County.

My top priority in Congress is delivering for our district. I’m thrilled that we were able to fund many incredible community projects across CA-37, and I’m committed to working with President Biden and Governor Newsom to get our community the federal assistance it needs to continue recovering from this winter’s storms.

ADVANCING PROGRESS IN CA-37

We are making historic investments in our district and its people. The $12.4 million in new funding my office secured will support projects across our district to improve and expand affordable housing, empower and educate our youth, and keep our community safe.

Throughout the government funding process, I have highlighted Democrats' efforts to lower the cost of living, reduce drug costs, and expand childcare and early childhood education options. I’m proud that, while imperfect, these government funding packages do just that. Further, we were able to protect reproductive rights by defeating cynical Republican attempts to insert anti-choice provisions into the budget bill.

This legislation reflects President Biden and Democrats' vision to move the country forward—I know that we will keep leading the country in CA-37.

SUPPORTING CALIFORNIA’S RECOVERY EFFORTS

In response to the severe winter storms that have struck California, I joined 50 members of California's Congressional delegation to call on the Biden Administration to grant Governor Newsom’s request for a major disaster declaration in response to severe winter storms. The storms brought heavy precipitation and high-speed winds to Los Angeles, resulting in flooding and mudslides. This damaged homes, buildings, and critical infrastructure including federal and state highways and roads across CA-37.

In a bipartisan effort, my colleagues and I emphasized the overwhelming impact of the storms on communities across the state, stressing the urgent need for federal coordination and action to aid in the recovery process. Last year, we successfully petitioned President Biden to declare a major disaster in California in response to Tropical Storm Hilary. I will continue to advocate for this federal support to ensure a swift, efficient, and equitable recovery for every part of CA-37 impacted by the recent winter storms.

As always, I encourage you to contact my offices with any comments or concerns about my work in Congress, the 37th District, or any other matters. Please connect with me on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on my work in Congress. If you are experiencing issues with Social Security, passports, immigration, or another Federal agency, send in a casework request, and my staff will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,
