Thanking and Honoring Our Veterans

Dear Friend,

On Monday, we celebrated Veterans Day—a day to thank our veterans and their families and honor their selfless service to our country and commitment to upholding freedom and democracy.

As the granddaughter of a veteran, I am dedicated to supporting our veterans and addressing their needs in Congress. Our veterans need quality healthcare, housing, mental health services, and more. That’s why I’m a proud co-sponsor of legislation like the Healthy Foundations for Homeless Veterans Act, which provides funding to the VA for assistance for homeless veterans.

Beyond enacting policies to help our veterans, I’m committed to ensuring that the over 9,000 veterans who call California’s 37th Congressional District home receive the benefits they have earned. So far this year, my casework team has assisted 57 veterans in need in our community. Some of these wins included:

  • Returning $5,200 to veterans who were owed money by the federal government;
  • Correcting the discharge titles of 12 veterans to “honorable discharge”; and
  • Securing full VA disability benefits for 23 veterans in our community.

If you or a veteran you know needs support with a federal agency, please reach out to my Los Angeles office for assistance. We will always be here to serve those who have served our country.

As always, I encourage you to contact my offices with any comments or concerns about my work in Congress, the 37th District, or any other matters. Please connect with me on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on my work in Congress. If you are experiencing issues with Social Security, passports, immigration, or another Federal agency, send in a casework request, and my staff will be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,
