My First Term in Congress Wrapped!

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSWOMAN KAMLAGER-DOVE:

Dear Friend,

I can’t believe I’m already wrapping up my first term in Congress! It’s been a rollercoaster, to say the least.

From pushing back against the House Republican Majority’s far-right policies to LEADing in Congress to preserve our Land, advance Economic justice, promote the Arts, and stand up for Democracy-- I’ve been fighting for the needs of all Angelenos in Washington.

As I return to Los Angeles for the holidays, I am proud of all that we've delivered for California's 37th District. Here’s how I served YOU over the last two years:

In my first term in Congress, my casework team and I have helped 1,700 constituents cut through bureaucratic red tape. By advocating to federal agencies on behalf of you, we've helped return nearly $3.4 million back into the pockets of Angelenos owed money by the government.

But it's not just about the numbers--it's about the people we help too. From securing the installation of a mail drop box at the Tom Bradley Post Office for our Crenshaw community to reuniting the Hernandez family ahead of the holidays, we're making a real impact for those we serve. If you ever need assistance with a federal agency, I encourage you to contact my office!

We're not just putting money back into Angelenos' pockets--we're investing in our communities. This Congress, I secured nearly $12.4 million in federal funding to support 15 local projects across California's 37th District. These investments in our communities will help us mitigate the effects of climate change, prevent crime and reduce recidivism, and bolster economic and workforce development.

With the skyrocketing cost of housing being one of the top concerns I hear from constituents, I’m especially proud that $6.4 million of that funding is aimed at addressing housing insecurity in Los Angeles.

On the legislative side, I introduced 34 bills and passed two of them into law. Only 5% of bills introduced into Congress end up making it to the President's desk for signature, so this is a great achievement for a freshman lawmaker!

One law is already helping foreign nationals immigrate here after 15 years of service working for the United States government overseas. I’ve heard stories of folks who have given their lives to help the U.S., often working under duress, and I am overjoyed that we are finally able to fulfill the promise of the American dream for them and their families.

The other law ensures that the U.S. continues to engage with our Latin American and Caribbean partners through the Summit of the Americas, an indispensable forum for Western Hemisphere leaders to strengthen economic ties and deepen collaboration on areas of common concern.

As your Congresswoman, I've always believed in being a convener — not just a legislator. That's why, In my first term, we hosted 48 events and attended 218 more, bringing together people from all walks of life to tackle the issues that matter most.

From roundtables on affordable housing development, grant workshops on environmental justice, and arts funding convenings for local arts and cultural organizations, we've ensured that resources and information flow freely to those who need it most.

I know many of us are feeling anxious and uncertain about the future, but I have always found light and warmth in the 37th District. Now more than ever, we have to continue to lean in, learn from, and connect with one another. We are all in this together, and I will not stop fighting for you.

As always, I encourage you to contact my offices with any comments or concerns about my work in Congress, the 37th District, or any other matters. Please connect with me on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram to stay up to date on my work in Congress. If you are experiencing issues with Social Security, passports, immigration, or another Federal agency, send in a casework request, and my staff will be happy to assist you.

Happy holidays!
