Happy 106th birthday!

Dear Neighbor,

Last weekend, I had the honor of wishing Whittier resident Mrs. Elvira Marshall a happy 106th Birthday!

Over 100 loved ones, friends, and neighbors came together in La Mirada’s Neff Park to celebrate with Mrs. Marshall. I was proud to present her with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition to commemorate this special day.

Mrs. Marshall is a longtime Whittier resident and former teacher who worked for the Valle Lindo Unified School District in South El Monte for 23 years.

Although she was born before women gained the right to vote, she believes voting is her civic duty and told me she has never missed a single election!

It was truly a joy to meet Mrs. Marshall. I hope you’ll join me in wishing her a very happy birthday!

La semana pasada, tuve el honor de desearle un feliz 106º cumpleaños a la Sra. Elvira Marshall de Whittier.

Más de 100 seres queridos, amigos, y vecinos se reunieron en el parque Neff de La Mirada para celebrar con la Sra. Marshall. Estuve orgullosa de presentarle un Certificado de Reconocimiento Congresional para conmemorar este día tan especial.

La Sra. Marshall es una maestra jubilada y residente de Whittier desde hace mucho tiempo. Trabajó para el distrito escolar de Valle Lindo en South El Monte por 23 años.

Aunque nació antes de que las mujeres ganamos el derecho a votar, ella cree que votar es un deber cívico y me dijo que ha votado en todas las elecciones.
