All students should be able to achieve their American dream. Race-based education policies divide our nation, undermine global competitiveness, and prevent students from reaching their full potential. These out-of-touch policies make the American dream out of reach. We should not hold students back and send a dangerous message that one’s race and background matters more than one’s merits and character. This week's decision is a huge victory for students of all backgrounds. I respect the Supreme Court’s decision as always and hope higher education institutions do the same.
Amazing time at the Richard Nixon Foundation’s 5K Run/ Walk for Title IX, which was signed into law by President Nixon 51 years ago and opened so many doors for women and girls. Congratulations to 5K female winners Summer Wilson and sisters Nicole and Lauren Reeves, and great work by all!
This week's Mission Viejo Rotary Club Chili Cook Off was a sizzler! So fun to catch up with the teams competing and attendees and of course enjoy some delicious chili. Congrats to the winners!
Kicked off the week at the Orange Chamber of Commerce Eggs and Issues at Orange Cafe! I provided updates on my work in Congress to lower taxes as co-chair of the SALT Caucus, address the fentanyl crisis, protect public safety, support small businesses, and more. Thanks for having me!
Summer in CA-40 means Concerts in the Park are back! I enjoyed catching up with our Tustin community and enjoying music from Neon Nation!
Great to join ThisDay Laguna Woods Village with new host Bobbi Higgins! I talked about my work to grow our health workforce and protect Social Security, Medicare, and veterans care that our seniors depend on. As someone approaching eligibility age myself, this is personal to me.
California has some of the highest energy costs in the nation, and this gas tax increase further burdens Californians who have already been forced to choose between filling up their gas tanks or meeting their families' needs. Out of touch policies from Governor Newsom and Sacramento’s supermajority are making life harder for Californians. I joined Rep. David Valadao and the CA GOP delegation in sending a letter to demand swift action and provide relief for our California families, and I will keep fighting for common sense solutions to lower gas prices, cut taxes, and make life more affordable.
Thank you to Chino Valley Fire District Chief Dave Williams and team for the tour and for providing me updates on your efforts to prevent, detect, and contain wildfires in Chino Hills. I’ve introduced bipartisan bills in Congress to boost information sharing among first responders and help increase access to technologies for wildfire response. I’m committed to ensuring our firefighters have the tools they need to do their dangerous jobs and protect CA-40 public safety.
Congratulations to the new South Orange County Economic Coalition Board! I look forward to working together to support our South County job creators and keep our communities prosperous and strong.
As a mother of four kids who are now having kids of their own, I have seen many maternal health challenges facing moms and moms-to-be. I'm working with Congressman Robin Kelly as Maternity Care Caucus co-chairs on bipartisan solutions.
Thank you to the Laguna Hills Chamber of Commerce for hosting another phenomenal car show!
Robert Frackelton was recognized as the City of Villa Park, CA June 2023 Distinguished Citizen at this month’s Villa Park City Council Meeting! I want to thank him for his leadership and selfless service in various organizations and programs that support our CA-40 community.
I joined the Sri Sai Krish Institute to open their 2nd vocational nursing school in Orange, and celebrated this year’s graduates. I introduced a bipartisan bill to expand our nurse workforce and look forward to seeing these graduates will help meet our CA-40 community’s healthcare needs.
Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met. We came together at the Orange County Korean War Veterans Memorial to remember the start of the Korean War 73 years ago and honor those who fought for freedom.
I enjoyed meeting Laguna Woods City leaders Mayor Cynthia Conners, Mayor Pro Tem Noel Hatch, and City Manager Chris Macon to discuss their priorities for the city. I look forward to working with them to serve our Laguna Woods community.
Hickory and Spice has become a pillar of Orange, and owner Rick has a heart of gold, donating his time, food, and service to several organizations. Recognizing him for his work in our CA-40 community is the least we could do. I can’t wait to have some more delicious BBQ!
I visited the Navy Federal Credit Union Branch in Mission Viejo to discuss the important financial services they provide to help our service members, veterans, DOD civilian employees and their families. I am proud to represent so many service members and veterans in Congress!
Our national security is vital to protecting the American dream for future generations. Foreign policy decisions will determine our nation’s future, and I am proud that I got right to work on effective policies to promote U.S. strength, support our allies, and hold our adversaries accountable. My focus as always is delivering results for my constituents, and I am thrilled my record shows exactly that. I will keep fighting every day for responsible solutions to issues impacting my district and our nation.
Orange Rotary Club President Pat Buttress is a leader who truly puts service above self. I was honored to join in thanking her for her dedication and hard work as Rotary President. I know she’ll continue to make an impact in our Orange community. Congratulations, Pat!
Welcome to CA-40, Dede Windows & Doors and DryBar Anaheim Hills! I will always be a champion for small businesses in Congress and ensure that CA-40 businesses are thriving.
