Honored to lead the pledge of allegiance, share VA casework services my office can assist with, and listen to CA-40 veterans at the Tustin American Legion - Post 227's “Coffee and Chat" on last Friday!
Supporting the brave heroes who served in our nation's uniform is a top priority.
Good news! The bipartisan Fire Weather Development Act that I helped introduce passed out of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee this week. With peak wildfire season approaching, many of my constituents, especially in canyon communities, are weary of the increased threat of wildfires. Early detection and forecasting efforts can help us get ahead, so we can prevent wildfires and save lives. The Fire Weather Development Act will improve information sharing to better understand and predict fire weather and environment conditions. I am proud to help lead this commonsense bill and will continue fighting to improve wildfire readiness and protect CA-40 communities.
This week I joined FOX 11 LA to discuss my work as Chairwoman on the Indo-Pacific Subcommittee to counter North Korea’s aggression and project strength with our allies. I also discussed our work to bring LA Public Defender Eyvin Hernandez back home after being wrongfully detained in Venezuela for 15 months. Click on the image above or below to watch my full interview!
As a mom and grandma, I experienced the hardships of pregnancy firsthand and recently grieved with one of my daughters through the pain of losing a baby. Helping moms, moms-to-be, and their babies is personal to me.
Each pregnancy faces unique challenges, and at least 1 in every 4 stillbirths is preventable. This week, I introduced the bipartisan, bicameral SHINE for Autumn Act to help us gain the research, resources, and education needed to prevent stillbirths, support our health workforce, and help women have healthy pregnancies. I am proud to lead this commonsense bill that will positively impact moms and families, and I’ll keep fighting for maternal health care solutions as co-chair of the Maternity Care Caucus.
Great to see familiar faces in town for the Coalition of California Chambers - OC Summit, including from Yorba Linda, Lake Forest, and Laguna Hills! I’m fighting for policies that support our CA-40 small businesses who create good-paying jobs and boost our local economies.
The memories of the destruction of the Korean War are fading—which shows how far we have come.
As we reflect on the 70th anniversary of the Korean War armistice, read my thoughts in Foreign Policy Magazine and listen to my interview on the Fox News Rundown on why an end-of-war declaration would be catastrophic.
Last weekend, I stopped by Mission Viejo Nadadores for the USA Diving Junior National Championships. Amazing to see CA-40 host our next generation of world class athletes from all over the world!
Thursday marked the 70th Anniversary of the Signing of the Korean War Armistice, which ended hostilities on the Korean Peninsula. In solemn recognition of this anniversary, I held a hearing entitled “Illicit IT: Bankrolling Kim Jong Un”, to highlight the atrocities of Kim regime, and to shed a light on how the regime is able to circumvent international sanctions to fund its human rights abuses and its nuclear program.
This week, the Financial Services Committee passed the Stop Fentanyl Money Laundering Act I helped introduce with National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions Subcommittee Chairman Blaine Luetkemeyer. As a mother and a grandmother, it pains me to see that our youth – the future of our country – is being damaged by the rampant fentanyl crisis. According to HHS, rates of illicit prescription pill use are now highest among people ages 18 to 25. In California’s 40th District, Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes says that from 2021 to 2022 seizures of fentanyl had more than quadrupled to 450 pounds. His department also seized more than 405,000 pills suspected of containing fentanyl in 2022—twenty-five times the amount seized in 2021.
Great to spend time on last Friday with Orange County Veterans and Military Families Collaborative to discuss how we can work together to support our CA-40 veterans and their families. As a wife and sister to U.S. veterans, supporting those who have served and their families is personal to me.
Honored to meet Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni! I look forward to working together to strengthen our partnership and advance shared priorities.
This week Team Young supported CA-40 small business Mimi's Cafe in Tustin and welcomed Mobility City to Lake Forest and Angry Chickz to Aliso Viejo. Small businesses like theirs are the backbone of our nation and I'm thankful these businesses are calling CA-40 home!
My bill, the Keeping Our Allies Leading in Advancement (KOALA) Act passed out of the Foreign Affairs Committee this week! The KOALA Act helps support Australia’s joint advanced military capabilities in implementation of the trilateral security partnership between Australia, United Kingdom, and United States.
RSM rocks! I enjoyed catching up with our community and thanking Orange County Fire Authority for their work to keep us safe at the Rancho Santa Margarita "Live & Love Local" summer concert series last weekend.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Coto de Caza- Rancho Santa Margarita for hosting such a fun event!
Honored to commemorate Korean War Armistice Day and celebrate 70 years of our US-ROK alliance with members of our Korean American community in town from all over the world. Thank you to Korean American Grassroots Conference, Council of Korean Americans, and Korea Economic Institute for hosting and bringing us together.
Great to meet Ambassador Karen Pierce to discuss my bill that passed markup this week to support the AUKUS agreement.
I was proud to be appointed by Speaker McCarthy to the British Interparliamentary Group and am working to strengthen our economic and security partnership.
Thanks to the Villa Park Community Services Foundation for putting on last Friday’s Concert in the (Villa) Park featuring the 80’s Daze at Villa Park High School! Great to catch up with constituents and talk about casework services my office can assist with and internship opportunities for students!
I met with Eyvin Hernandez’s father Pedro Martinez and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul as we fight to bring Eyvin home. I am thrilled that our bipartisan resolution to demand his release from Venezuela passed out of the Foreign Affairs Committee this week, and I will not stop fighting until this becomes a reality.
Amelia Earhart, who was born on July 24,1897, was the first woman to make a nonstop solo transatlantic flight, piloting a Lockheed Vega 5B. She was a trailblazer whose courage, skill, and tenacity continues to inspire generations of women in STEM.
