This week I was pleased to hear Japan Prime Minister Kishida’s address to a Joint Session of Congress. His commitment and resolve for a strong alliance, trilateral partnership with South Korea and the Phillippines, global cooperation, and assuring support for Ukraine came through clearly in his speech and were appreciated.
So many bright students from Western states were in town this week for House of Code, including our CA-40 Congressional App Challenge Winner, Sophia! Her app “Trashbot” can detect whether an object is recyclable or trash.
I’m proud to be a voice for educational opportunities for students.
History has shown repeatedly that when the free world wavers, our adversaries see a green light.
Congress must act to support our allies Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel. Our response will directly determine our national security and global standing. Read my full thoughts in The Hill below.
This week on the House Financial Services Committee, I pointed out regulations proposed by SEC Chair Gensler will increase compliance costs and open up companies to face unnecessary litigation. We want policies that help counter climate change, but we need to stop these burdensome regulations. I'll keep fighting for common sense.
Thank you to American Legion Post 299 for supporting veterans, servicemembers, and families in our area, including Chino Hills, for 100 years! Team Young was grateful to join the Centennial Gala & honor the late Elmer C. Jertbeg, WWI veteran and first Commander of the Post.
This Wednesday marked 45 years of the Taiwan Relations Act, which has shaped U.S. policy in the Indo-Pacific.
Taiwan is a trusted partner in freedom, democracy, security, and global health. As House Foreign Affairs Indo-Pacific Subcommittee Chair, I'll always be a loud voice for Taiwan.
I caught up with volunteers from IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling in Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita to thank them for their work helping qualified individuals in our community file their taxes free of charge. Remember to get your taxes filed by Tax Day on Monday!
Team Young celebrated the opening of Restoration Dental in Orange and Yoga Six in Lake Forest! I'm fighting to support our small business owners who are pursuing their American dream and growing local economies.
So great to see California State University Fullerton Interim Vice President Kimberly Shiner this week. As the mom of three Titan grads, CSUF has a special place in my heart. Thank you for stopping by! Tusks Up!
As we see growing aggression in the Indo-Pacific, strengthening our alliances in the region is so important. I had productive discussions on a bipartisan trip to South Korea with the Association of Former Members of Congress on the US-ROK alliance and how we can grow our security and economic partnership.
On the House Foreign Affairs Committee this week, I asked Administrator Samantha Power about USAID advancing the US-ROK-Japan trilateral partnership. U.S. development assistance helps nations in need, supports our economic and security goals, and counters economic coercion by the People's Republic of China.
Team Young was grateful to help welcome the new Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, recognize local leaders, and celebrate our Hispanic community at the 30th annual Estrella Awards! Thank you for all you do to support our Orange County communities!
This week I spoke at the Preeclampsia Foundation's briefing on maternal health practices and discoveries. As a co-chair of the Maternity Care Caucus, I will continue to work to support mothers, moms-to-be, babies, and families across the nation.
Team Young celebrated Irvine Valley College's official building dedication for the newly unveiled Arts Village! It will be one of three buildings to support music and dance, visual arts, and fine art programs for students in our community. Thank you for this amazing addition!
This Tuesday was Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day. We honor more than 500,000 American service members who were captured, missing, or are still unaccounted for while protecting our nation. You are not forgotten.
Inviting all CA-40 young artists! The 2024 Congressional Art Competition is now open through Monday, April 22, 2024.
Delivering for CA-40 is my top priority.
In Congress, I secured resources through the FY24 appropriations packages for vital projects in CA-40 that protect public health, support law enforcement, and keep our communities safe.
