News from Representative Larson

 Dear Friends –

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is unwarranted and dangerous. Under the leadership of President Biden, the United States and our allies have rallied the international community to offer critical support to the Ukrainian people and take swift action to sanction Russia.

If you are a U.S. citizen still in Ukraine, the State Department advises you to complete an online crisis intake form and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) so that they can communicate directly with you.

The United States has provided more than $1 billion in security assistance and $100 million in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine in the past year, and I am pushing for an additional aid package to be taken up. The Biden administration has also announced historic and crippling sanctions against Russia, coordinated among more than 30 nations.

In Congress, I am committed to using every tool available to us to support Ukraine and impose financial consequences on Russia for their actions.  I’ve also urged the Administration to provide relief for Ukrainians in the United States so they are not forced to return home to a nation at war. We must continue to support the Ukrainian people with military, humanitarian, and economic aid.

I support President Biden’s decision to rule out the deployment of U.S. troops to Ukraine. Only Congress has the power to declare war, and it is our constitutional duty to vote on any effort to use military force.
