News from Representative Larson

 Dear Friends –

Today marks the one year anniversary of the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the largest relief bill in our nation’s history to address the COVID pandemic. Our country has come so far in just this one year: getting our community vaccinated, our children safely back in school, and our unemployment rate to a pandemic low.

Here’s how the ARP has helped Connecticut:

  • Stimulus Checks – Provided much needed direct payments to a half million Connecticut residents.
  • Affordable Health Care – More than 33,000 households in Connecticut saved on average $1,174 per year through extended tax credits on the Access Health CT marketplace for health insurance. A constituent from our district was able to invest these savings in  his children’s college fund!
  • Tax Cuts for Families - Expanded the Child Tax Credit, which cut child poverty across the country in half and benefited almost 400,000 children in Connecticut alone.
  • Small Business Relief – Brought $10 billion in Paycheck Protection Program payments, more than $125 million in Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program grants, and $301 million in Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant payments to Connecticut’s small businesses.
  • Funding for Schools and Municipalities – In CT-01 alone, the ARP provided $567 million in federal funding directly to the towns to fund critical services such as fire and police and schools.

We will keep up the fight to bring funding and resources back to Connecticut’s First District. In fact, this week we passed legislation that included my Community Project funding requests, bringing over $6 million to CT-01 alone! You can read more about this accomplishment here.
