News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court voted to allow Elon Musk’s ‘DOGE’ access to Social Security beneficiaries’ sensitive data, including income histories and medical records while a case challenging their access makes its way through the courts. I introduced the Protecting Americans’ Social Security Data Act with over 120 of my Democratic colleagues to block political appointees and special government employees like ‘DOGE’ from accessing these sensitive records at the Social Security Administration and ensure that only Congress can change data privacy requirements for employees who handle these sensitive systems in the future.

If the Trump Administration and the Supreme Court won’t protect Americans’ data, it’s time for Congress to act. Following the Supreme Court decision, I wrote to Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith calling for an immediate hearing on data privacy and a vote on my bill to protect Americans’ sensitive information. I discussed the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision and why Congress needs to take action with Jessica Craven. You can watch our conversation HERE

This week, President Trump’s Social Security Commissioner, Frank Bisignano, came before our committee. He has called himself a “DOGE person” and celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision allowing them access to your records as a “major victory.” I demanded answers on what he is doing to protect Americans’ privacy and their hard-earned benefits from ‘DOGE’s meddling at the Social Security Administration. You can view my remarks below.

No one wants their privacy exposed by unqualified, unapproved, and unvetted 24-year-olds at ‘DOGE.’ I will continue to fight to hold this Administration accountable and bring 'DOGE’ before Congress to get the answers you deserve, under oath.
