Dear Friends,
Two weeks ago, the New York Times published a whistleblower report that revealed how Elon Musk’s ‘DOGE’ copied sensitive information, including names, Social Security numbers, and addresses, to a vulnerable cloud. His unapproved and unvetted proteges should not have access to your personal information. All year, I have warned about the risk this access poses to your privacy – and now, it has been breached.
On Tuesday, I asked the Republican Chair of the Social Security Subcommittee to bring the whistleblower before Congress and get to the bottom of this. He wouldn’t commit to it. You can watch my remarks below.
I’m not going to let ‘DOGE’ continue to play games with your data. I’m fighting for answers. Before I left Washington for the week, I launched an official inquiry with every Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee to compel the Trump Administration to provide in-depth information about how this vulnerable cloud was built, its purpose, and what information was accessed. We need hearings and accountability NOW. I took to the House floor to call for action.
‘DOGE’ has not been transparent and will not come before Congress to answer for their actions. handed over the keys to ‘DOGE’ at Social Security, I introduced a bill to block their access to your private information, including income histories and medical records. In June, despite a myriad of lawsuits, the Supreme Court stepped in so they could get their hands on private records at the Social Security Administration. If courts will not do the right thing, Congress must act.
House Republicans may not be willing to take action, but I won’t back down from this fight to protect your privacy from ‘DOGE’ or any government official. To follow what I’m working on both in Washington and in Connecticut, visit my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, or follow me on Instagram.

John B. Larson
