News from Representative Larson

Dear Friends,

This week, Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano, who was also installed as the so-called “CEO of the IRS” by Trump officials, came before the Ways and Means Committee. Right before our hearing, Treasury officials defied a federal judge to terminate collective bargaining agreements for workers at the IRS and Bureau of Fiscal Service. When I asked Commissioner Bisignano, under oath, if he was planning to end union contracts at the Social Security Administration, he refused to answer.

I also pressed him on a recent court filing that revealed how Elon Musk’s ‘DOGE’ employees at Social Security schemed to hand private records to an outside election interference group. Again, he refused to answer. I’ve called on the Ways and Means Committee to subpoena these records and introduced a Resolution of Inquiry to compel answers from the Trump Administration. Watch me question Commissioner Bisignano below.

Last week, a federal judge found that the IRS broke the law 42,695 times when it shared confidential taxpayer data with the Department of Homeland Security for immigration enforcement – so ICE can target taxpayers in our community. That’s outrageous! In the hearing, Commissioner Bisignano admitted no one had even been reprimanded for this massive leak of private information! I joined my Ways and Means Democratic colleagues to call for an independent Inspector General investigation into this data breach.

We will continue to demand accountability and stand up for our immigrant communities against this administration’s extreme policies. ICE needs to be disbanded, and we need to divert their bloated budget to the issues keeping families up at night, like expanding affordable housing and lowering health care costs.

Whether it’s stealing taxpayer data, or gutting protections for workers, I will never give up the fight for answers. While I continue to work to hold the administration accountable, there are no-cost resources to help with your tax return this filing season. The IRS offers basic tax return preparation at no-cost for eligible seniors and individuals. For more information about eligibility and to find tax assistance near you, visit IRS.gov or call 800-906-9887.
