Recapping The Joint Address

Dear Neighbor,

This week, President Biden spoke to a joint session of Congress. Despite few Members in the House Chamber due to COVID precautions, President Biden delivered an update on his first 100 days in office.

While he touted his administration's COVID-19 vaccine rollout, he forgot to give credit to President Trump and his administration's work with Operation Warp Speed. Also noticeably absent were his administration's failings at the border which have resulted in humanitarian, health, and national security crises. The president keeps pressing this idea of bipartisanship, but his passed and newly proposed policies are full of reckless spending programs pushed by the radical Left. I will continue to fight for limited government and fiscal responsibility. You can read more from my reaction to President Biden's address below.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

President Biden's Joint Address

Image

Following President Biden's address, my Republican colleagues and I shared an alternative vision to President Biden's 'I'm-from-the-government-and-I'm-here-to-help' plans. You can read my full response to the President's joint address to Congress here.

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) gave an incredible response to President Biden's joint address to Congress. He spoke about the promise of America and how the divisive and radical nature of the Left's agenda hurts working Americans while delivering conservatives' vision for our country based on common sense and common ground. You can watch Senator Scott's entire speech here.

How would you rate President Biden's first joint session speech to Congress?

Talking Policing In America With Harris Faulkner

Image

I was happy to join The Faulkner Focus on Fox News this week to discuss policing in America and my support of LEOs and first responders. As the national movement to defund our police grows, so does my commitment to fully funded police forces in communities across America. You can watch my full interview down below.

Homeland Security Hearing With One Of Ocala's Own

Image

During Wednesday's Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery hearing, I had the honor of introducing Ocala Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Robert Altman who testified about the importance of FEMA's preparedness grant programs. Chief Altman discussed how the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) is necessary to providing emergency services to the Ocala community. Those of us in Florida know just how important preparedness is and I'm proud to be the lead Republican on this subcommittee.

Letter With Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN-03) Opposing Chipman As ATF Director

  • I am proud to sign onto this letter with my colleague and RSC Chair Rep. Jim Banks voicing our opposition to the appointment of David Chipman to Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. His track record of reckless, radical anti-gun rhetoric, and hostile attitude toward gun owners is well documented.

Letter With Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL-25) To USTR Katherine Tai On Seasonal And Perishable Produce

  • This letter highlights the unsustainable pressure U.S. seasonal and perishable fruit and vegetable growers face from foreign suppliers. It also calls for a concrete action plan from the USTR that will deliver immediate, effective, and enforceable relief to enable struggling fruit and vegetable growers to compete against the rising tide of unfair imports.

A Ship Building Grant For Putnam County

Image

Earlier this week, I announced a new Department of Transportation (DOT) grant for St. Johns Ship Building in Putnam County. Those of us in Florida know just how important coastal commerce is to our economy and these new funds for a drydock will continue to grow business there and attract new employees to the region. You can read more about this grant here

Cammack On Democrat Police Reform: 'This Bill Is Dangerous' — Police Leaving Profession 'In Droves' (Breitbart)

Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) on Tuesday weighed in on the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, which has passed the House but stalled in the Senate. Cammack, on Fox News Channel’s “The Faulkner Focus,” warned the bill supported by the Democrats is “dangerous” because it includes restricting qualified immunity for officers. She pointed out that the dehumanization of members of law enforcement has resulted in officers “retiring and getting out of policing in droves.”

A $1.3 Million Grant Is Supporting The Construction Of A Drydock In Putnam County (WCJB)

The US Department of Transportation is awarding more than a million dollars to Ship Building Infrastructure in Putnam County. Congresswoman Kat Cammack’s office announced the grant of $1,342,724 which was given to Palatka-based Saint Johns Ship Building. Cammack: Biden ‘Glazed Over’ Border 'Crisis' (Floridian Press)

Freshman Florida Rep. Kat Cammack (R) did so, criticizing the President, saying that Biden "glazed over" the "crisis" at the border, and going after Vice President Kamala Harris (D). It’s reported that Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit the border in June, and this is something that the Biden administration has received criticism over. A number of lawmakers have visited the border, but the President and Vice President have not. On Twitter, Rep. Cammack expressed how "disappointed" she was at the job Vice President Harris has done to answer immigration concerns at the border.
