The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced the appointment of David Isaacks as the new Executive Director Medical Center of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Healthcare System (NF/SGVHS). Isaacks, who transitions into the role in early August, will be responsible for healthcare operations to more than 138,000 Veterans throughout system. NF/SGVHS is one of the nation's leading VA healthcare systems, employing more than 5,800 medical professionals and support staff, operating medical centers in Gainesville and Lake City, three large specialty outpatient clinics, and nine community-based outpatient clinics located throughout a 50-county catchment area. I look forward to working with Mr. Isaacks to continue the great work VISN 8 does for our heroes.

2021 Florida Purple Heart Day Is August 7th

Governor Ron DeSantis has officially declared August 7th as Florida Purple Heart Day.

Our state's Purple Heart recipients represent the very best of our nation's dedicated servicemembers and I'm proud to honor all of them, many of whom paid the ultimate sacrifices for our freedom.

Blue Water Navy Claims

Image

The VA continues to process Blue Water Navy claims at eight specifically trained regional offices.  In November 2020, a federal appeals court ordered that that Blue Water Navy Veterans and their survivors be included in the consent decree issued back in 1991 to readjudicate claims previously denied this veteran population.

For more information about these claims or how our office can help, please call our Gainesville office at 352-505-0838.

All veterans living in Florida are eligible to participate in the program and you can learn more here or call (866) 486-6161 for more information.
