Dear Neighbor,

This last month has been a difficult one for our country and for our veterans. Our military has a proud history of serving with distinction whenever called to meet a need involving our national interests. For our men and women who served in Afghanistan, you did so with the utmost dignity. You faithfully carried out orders and you did them well. We're extremely proud of you for answering our country's call with honor. I am proud of you.

Our mission is not over until every American returns home. We will continue our fight that this administration failed to complete.

Important Veterans Resources

You may question the meaning of your service or whether it was worth the sacrifices you made, but it’s normal to feel this way. Talk with your friends and families, reach out to battle buddies, connect with a peer-to-peer network, or sign up for mental health services.

We've compiled a number of resources for veterans on our website here.

North Florida Vet Centers

Vet Centers proudly offer counseling, referrals, and community engagement services across the state. The centers are safe and confidential, with services provided virtually by appointment or in-person during traditional hours.

Vet Centers in our area are located in Jacksonville (904-399-8351), Gainesville (352-331-1408), Ocala (352-237-1947), and Tallahassee (850-942-8810). More information is available here and at 877-927-8387.

Update On National Personnel Records Center (NPRC)

The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St. Louis has been closed since March 2020, resulting in long delays for records processing due to the COVID pandemic. I joined several of my Florida colleagues in calling for the reopening of NPRC and eliminating the backlog in records requests.

Apply For Your Veteran Identification Card (VIC)

The veteran identification card is a form of photo ID you can use to get discounts offered to veterans at many restaurants, hotels, stores and other businesses. VA Veteran ID Cards do not permit access to bases or commissaries.
