Veterans Day 2021

Veterans Day marks the annual opportunity to thank all of our veterans for their service to our country. I'm thankful for all of our incredible veterans in North Central Florida and extend my sincerest gratitude to each and every individual who has served our incredible country. It is because of our heroes that we remain the land of the free. From all of us at Team Kat, thank you for all you've done to serve.
 

VA Caregivers Support Line

The VA Caregivers Support line is a toll-free number for caregivers, family members, friends, veterans, and community partners to contact for information related to caregiving and available supports and services. The dedicated Caregiver Support Line team provides information on caregiver support services, counseling, educational services, and referrals (electronic notification) to local CSP staff at VA medical centers. The CSL can be reached at 1-855-260-3274 (toll-free), Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET and Saturday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. ET.

For Women Veterans

Members of our veteran community have expressed interest in more women's healthcare options within the VA system, especially in our area and at the Malcolm Randall Center in Gainesville.

VA North Florida/South Georgia health care supports the health, welfare, and dignity of female veterans and their families by ensuring equal access to timely, sensitive, and quality care. A women Vvteran care coordinator can help you get the services you need.

Additionally, the Women Veterans Call Center provides women Veterans information about VA services and resources, benefits, and eligibility. The toll-free line is available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. ET and on Saturdays 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. ET. War-Related Illness And Injury Center

The War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) is a national program dedicated to Veterans’ post-deployment health concerns and unique health care needs. They develop and provide post-deployment health expertise to Veterans and their health care providers through clinical care, research, education, and risk communication.

he WRIISC is part of VA’s newly designated Health Outcomes Military Exposures (HOME) formerly Post Deployment Health Services (PDHS). The VA is uniquely qualified to care for Veterans with health concerns related to potentially toxic exposures.

Wreaths Across America

Each December on National Wreaths Across America Day, Wreaths Across America engages in their mission to remember, honor and teach by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 2,500 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad.

Free Admission To National Parks

Entrance fees for the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and standard amenity recreation fees for the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sites are waived for current Military Service-members and their dependents, Veterans and Gold Star Families.

They now have free access to approximately 2,000 public locations spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, which host activities to fit any lifestyle, from serene to high octane, including hiking, fishing, paddling, biking, hunting, stargazing, camping, and much more. Interested veterans must present a Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC), Veteran ID card, or have a veterans designation on a state-issued driver's license.
