Honoring The Life Of Rep. Jackie Walorski & Staffers Tragically Lost

Dear Neighbor,

This week, the tragic passing of my colleague Rep. Jackie Walorski and her team sent shockwaves through the United States Congress. The losses of Rep. Walorski and her two aides are heartbreaking and so devastating to all of us who have had the honor of working with them. She and her team embodied what service-before-self means and have been incredible colleague and mentors to our office. We send our deepest prayers to their families and friends during this unimaginable time.

This week marks the first week of August Recess and Team Kat has been working hard for our folks in Florida's Third Congressional District. As the Biden administration continues to inject billions of dollars into the American economy and decimate our energy independence, Republicans are fighting to remedy these issues and more, especially as the 118th Congress approaches.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Honoring The Lives Of Rep. Jackie Walorksi & Staff

Image

There are no words to describe how heartbroken, stunned, and devastated we are at this week's news of the tragic loss of my friend and colleague, Rep. Walorski, and two members of her team.

Rep. Walorski was a friend to all of us in the House GOP Conference and demonstrated what service-above-self truly means, prioritizing her constituents in Indiana's Second and her staff and colleagues before herself. She was principled, a woman of faith and strong convictions, and never one to shy away from a fight for the people she served. Not only was she a strong representation of the best our nation has to offer, but her team members were caring colleagues and friends to our team.

Matt and I send our thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and colleagues of Rep. Walorski, including her husband Dean, and the loved ones of Emma Thomson and Zachery Potts, two of the congresswoman's staffers lost in Wednesday's crash. The House has lost one of its best members and we will do our best to honor Congresswoman Walorski's legacy of service.

Please join Team Kat in keeping the congresswoman, her staff, their families, and their friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Discussing The Pro-Life Movement & Government Spending With Victory News

Image

Last week, I sat down with Victory News to discuss the pro-life movement, inflation and the recession, and more. Reckless government spending is the root of the economic crisis we’re experiencing right now, and yet, the Biden administration knows no bounds. No American should have to make the choice between paying for gas or groceries. This senseless spending has to stop.

Congressional Briefing At The San Juan Sector Of The U.S. Coast Guard

Image

This week, Rep. Jenniffer González and the San Juan Sector of the U.S. Coast Guard hosted a member of Team Kat along with members of a congressional staff delegation for a briefing about the critical missions they perform to safeguard our national security and counter drug trafficking in the Caribbean. Seeing the hard work of the Coast Guard up close is paramount to their continued success, and I'm grateful for the work they do to secure our coastal defense.

Supporting Domestic Nuclear Energy Production

Image

This week, I joined my colleague Rep. Byron Donalds as a co-sponsor on his resolution supporting the expansion of domestic nuclear energy production. The United States is rich in natural resources and has some of the cleanest, safest, and most efficient production practices in the world. Under the Biden administration, our energy independence has been squandered, leaving Americans without jobs and prices sky high.

American energy independence is needed now more than ever, and nuclear is one of the cleanest, renewable energy sources available.

Celebrating The Reopening Of The Clay County Historic Courthouse

Image

Last week while I was in Washington, members of Team Kat celebrated the ribbon cutting ceremony for the reopening of the Clay County Historic Courthouse. The newly renovated building was welcomed with open arms by the Clay County Board of Commissioners and Clerk of the Court and Comptroller. We're excited this local treasure is back open for business in Green Cove Springs.

Speaking With Local Business Leaders At The Alachua Chamber Luncheon

Image

Tuesday afternoon, I spoke at the Alachua Chamber Luncheon and gave an update through my first term in Congress. I also had the chance to speak with local leaders from Florida's Third Congressional District about how inflation, gas prices, supply chain issues, and more have impacted their businesses. The response—overwhelmingly—confirmed that the Biden administration’s disastrous policies and outrageous spending are hurting our folks' livelihoods.

We need a change desperately, and Republicans are looking forward to remedying the economic crisis in the 118th Congress.

Honoring Law Enforcement & First Responders At The SKY Valor Awards

Image

Wednesday night, I attended the SKY Valor Awards in Gainesville, an annual event that salutes the area’s fire-rescue, police, and first responders for their acts of kindness and bravery. As the wife of a first responder myself, I can fully attest to the work that these heroes do to go above and beyond in protecting our communities. I will always Back The Blue and stand up for our frontline heroes.
