The Border Crisis Reaches Historic Levels As 2022 Nears Its End

Dear Neighbor,

It's been nearly two years since Biden first took office, and our border has never been less secure. This week, my colleagues and I demanded answers from congressional Democrats and the administration, but when pressed about the crisis, they continued to deflect and deny. Meanwhile, it's only now that Republican leaders like Gov. DeSantis are sending these migrants to various blue states that Democrats are paying attention. It's incredibly disappointing.

In addition, the Mexican cartels have unleashed a serious drug crisis, with fentanyl arriving in every town in America. Yesterday, I was one of a few lawmakers with the Republican Study Committee who heard heart-wrenching stories from parents whose children were unknowingly poisoned and killed by this lethal opioid. This is an attack on the youth of our country, and we're going to stop it.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Americans Now Unable To Pay Their Utility Bills

Image

The National Energy Assistance Directors Association recently called soaring inflation the worst crisis they've ever documented, with 1 in 6 Americans behind on paying their utility bills. Roughly 20 million households are not able to afford basic electric services, especially as August inflation numbers revealed this week show energy costs are up 23.8 percent.

This is Biden's America: the land of skyrocketing inflation and boneheaded progressive policies.

RSC Roundtable Discussion On The Fentanyl Crisis

Image

Yesterday was one of the most powerful days I've had in Congress so far. We heard from folks all across the country, including one special constituent from Florida's Third who lost her daughter earlier this year to fentanyl poisoning.

Young people across our country are dying in record numbers from fentanyl poisoning. With fentanyl on the streets at increasing rates, pouring over our southern border from Mexico and China, we must take action to stop the fentanyl crisis and its scourge on our people. Our office will have announcements about what we're doing to stop this chaos in the coming weeks.

Blasting Democrats' Hypocrisy Over Migrants Coming To Their Cities

Image

Earlier today, I joined the Faulkner Focus with guest host Dagen McDowell to discuss Democrats' response to the migrant crisis in America. Leaders from deep-blue cities are in hysterics over the fact that Republican governors, including Florida's own Ron DeSantis, are shipping migrants from the border towns in Texas to their beloved crime-ridden sanctuaries.

Of course, it only becomes a problem to them when the migrants arrive in places like Martha's Vineyard where elites like Barack Obama reside, calling a busload of 50 migrants a 'humanitarian crisis' while folks in McAllen, Texas have been dealing with the fallout for nearly two years now. They're just mad DeSantis forced them to look in the mirror on their own hypocrisy.

Protecting Americans From Credit Card Companies' Tracking Of Lawful Gun Purchases

Image

This week, I was proud to join Rep. Elise Stefanik on her letter to Visa, American Express, and Mastercard after it was revealed that these companies have been forced to implement merchant codes that track firearms purchases in the U.S. No law abiding citizen should ever have to fear being punished by these woke companies for purchasing guns legally.

It’s dangerous that three of the United States' most widely used credit card companies are attempting to undermine the Second Amendment and the American people deserve answers about these companies' role in reviewing their purchase decisions.

Honoring POWs & MIAs On National Day Of Recognition

Image

On National POW-MIA Day, we’re remembering and honoring America’s prisoners of war, those who are still missing in action, and their families. My grandfather was a POW in Nazi Germany during WWII and his heroism and courage continue to inspire me to this day.

These heroes have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, and I’m humbled to display the POW-MIA flag outside my office as a reminder of the valor and bravery they embody while defending our freedoms abroad. Please join me in praying for those who have POWs in their family, or know someone who is still missing in action. Our hearts go out to them today and every day.

Pressing Democrats On The Biden Border Crisis

Image

Because of the crisis this administration has created at the border, CPB has apprehended 66 suspected terrorists trying to enter our country—and that’s just in this year alone. Biden will stop at nothing to destroy our national security, and our country is less safe because him.

For nearly two years, Democrats on the House Homeland Security Committee have avoided discussing the Biden Border Crisis at every turn. On Wednesday, my colleagues and I introduced a resolution of inquiry (ROI) to force the majority to address the border crisis. They've skirted the truth, gaslit the American people, and avoided the facts. Maybe they'd know what's actually happening if they tried visiting the border.

Honoring LEOS On National Thank A Police Officer Day

Image

Tomorrow is National Thank A Police Officer Day! Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line while serving our local communities and protecting us from harm. Whether it’s responding to the scene of a car accident, or to the scene of a crime, these heroes’ presence in our communities is not one that should be taken for granted.

Please join me in thanking all our police officers from Florida's Third Congressional District this weekend. They deserve it now more than ever.

Honoring The Lives Lost In 9/11

Image

On Sunday, I was honored to attend the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Ocala at the Marion County Veterans Park. It was such a special morning with touching tributes honoring the lives we lost at Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania, and the brave first responders and civilians who rushed toward danger to save countless lives.

A special thank you to the Marion County Board of Commissioners, the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Marion Fire Rescue, Ocala Fire Rescue, and the Ocala Police Department for their work in making such a ceremony so special and heartfelt.
