Touring Hurricane Ian Damage In Florida With The U.S. Coast Guard
Dear Neighbor,
Earlier this week, I got to view the damage left by Hurricane Ian firsthand on a helicopter tour with the U.S. Coast Guard. It's heartbreaking to see the devastation of these communities, but also encouraging to know that Floridians from around the state are coming together to help with recovery efforts.
We're doing all we can to provide assistance for folks whose homes and businesses were damaged by Hurricane Ian. You can learn more about relief offered through FEMA and the Small Business Administration on our website, as well as information about volunteer efforts. During this crucial time, Floridians must stand by each other and help those in need.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
In Liberty,
Congresswoman Kat Cammack Proudly Serving Florida's Third Congressional District |

Touring Hurricane Ian Damage In Southwest Florida With The Coast Guard

This week, I joined the U.S. Coast Guard in Southwest Florida to tour the extensive damage following Hurricane Ian. As the lead Republican on the subcommittee that oversees FEMA, we're continuing to ensure Floridians have the support they need to build back stronger. For information on disaster assistance across the state, visit our website at cammack.house.gov.
During the helicopter tour, I went live on Facebook to show the aftermath from above. You can view the footage by clicking the button below. |

Preventing Chinese Farmland Acquisitions

This week, I joined colleagues in a letter to the USDA, DoD, and U.S. Treasury expressing our concerns regarding China's acquisitions of U.S. farmland. For a while now, Chinese Communist Party-affiliated corporations have purchased land dangerously close to sensitive U.S. military installations. Not only does this undermine our national security and integrity, but it endangers our dominance, global readiness, and competition with China. This is of great concern and is something our team is watching closely. |

Recognizing International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction Following Hurricane Ian

With Hurricane Ian’s effects still being uncovered daily, we’re taking a moment to recognize International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. On Thursday, communities around the globe raised awareness about the importance of reducing the risks associated with natural disasters. Though Ian’s impact is still reverberating throughout Florida, we must always remember the importance of emergency preparedness before a storm hits. |

Celebrating National Farmer's Day

This Wednesday, we celebrated National Farmer's Day! As the only Florida Republican to sit on the House Agriculture Committee, I’m proud to recognize all the hardworking farmers and ranchers from Florida's Third Congressional District and around the nation who plow, sow, grow, and harvest to feed our nation. If you know a farmer or rancher, be sure to thank them for all they do for our agriculture industry. |

Honoring 274 Years Of The U.S. Navy

Yesterday, we celebrated 247 years of the United States Navy! On October 13th, 1775, the Navy was established as the maritime branch of the U.S. military, charged with defending our nation both on and under the sea. Please join me in thanking all our Florida's Third Navy active duty members and veterans for their service. |

Supporting National Wildlife Refuge Week

This week, we’re recognizing National Wildlife Refuge Week! National wildlife refuges provide a variety of activities and are great places for folks to connect with nature. Florida is proud to be home to 29 throughout the state, and in fact, the nation’s wildlife refuge system was born in Florida in 1903! |

Visiting The Florida Horse Park In Marion County

Earlier this week, I visited the Florida Horse Park in Marion County where the Marion County Sheriff's Office and several state and local agencies are readying supplies, equipment, and materials for Hurricane Ian recovery. The outpouring of support for our neighbors in southwest Florida has been amazing and we're equipped to continue supporting Floridians whenever they need help.
Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who are working hard to stage the important resources so desperately needed in rebuilding efforts. |
