Chief Andrew K. Baker's Legacy Honored Through Passage Of House Bill

Dear Neighbor,

It's a big week in Florida's Third Congressional District, because our office passed a bill out of the U.S. House of Representatives to officially designate the Middleburg VA Clinic in Clay County after Chief Andrew K. Baker who died while serving our country in 1997. After years of working on this project, it’s extremely rewarding to finally see it come to fruition. On behalf of Ms. Tina Baker, Andrew’s widow, and all who had the honor of serving with Chief Baker, I’m proud to say that the A.K. Baker VA Clinic is no longer a dream—it’s a reality.

We'd also like to remind folks that today is the last day to submit a nomination for the Veteran of the Year award. This honor is extended to one special veteran from our district each year. If you know a veteran deserving of this award, visit our website at cammack.house.gov to submit a nomination.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Bill Honoring Clay County Veteran Chief Andrew K. Baker Passes Through House

Image

I'm proud to announce that earlier this week, I passed a bill out of the U.S. House of Representatives to officially designate the Middleburg VA Clinic in Clay County after Chief Andrew K. Baker who died while serving our country in 1997. The bill is headed to the president's desk for a signature, and we could not be any more excited to share this special news. This is a monumental achievement and something we've worked hard to accomplish for many years, and those who know Ms. Tina Baker know just how much this moment means to her family.

It's surreal to soon see Chief Baker's name in huge letters on the front of the building in Middleburg. His distinguished legacy will live on in the community that was such a huge part of who he was. Click on the button below to learn more and to watch this moment unfold.

Confronting DHS Secretary Mayorkas With Staggering Border Crisis Numbers

Image

1.4 MILLION. That’s how many illegals have been released into our nation in just this fiscal year alone. No background checks. No vetting procedures. No idea who’s crossing our borders.

This week, I grilled DHS Secretary Mayorkas about these numbers during a Homeland Security committee hearing. Secretary Mayorkas has destroyed our border security. When confronted with the numbers released by his own department, he had no answers for me, my colleagues, or the American people.
