Holding Biden Accountable For Criminal Negligence Over Border Security

Dear Neighbor,

This week was a big one in Washington, as the bill to rename the Middleburg VA Clinic after Andrew Kenneth Baker reached the president's desk for a signature. In January we'll have a formal ceremony to recognize the building's name change and honor Chief Baker's heroism and bravery.

We also participated in a roundtable about free speech on college campuses nationwide. The First Amendment is one of our most sacred freedoms, and we will continue working hard to protect it during the 118th Congress.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Bill To Rename Middleburg VA Clinic After Andrew K. Baker Officially Signed Into Law

Image

It's a big week for Florida's Third, because this past Monday at the White House, the president signed our bill to rename the Middleburg VA Clinic after Andrew K. Baker!

After years of hard work and months of pushing this bill for a vote in Washington, it's finally across its final hurdle! In just a couple of months, we'll change the name on the side of the building and formally recognize Chief Baker and his family for their service and sacrifice to our nation.

Protecting Free Speech On College Campuses

Image

On Monday, I joined Congressman Greg Murphy and several of my colleagues for the second annual Campus Free Speech Roundtable. Each year, we check in with alumni, current students, and free speech advocates about the importance of protecting this most fundamental right for future generations.

Our Constitution protects free speech—college campuses shouldn't be the exception.

Calling Out Biden's Criminal Negligence On Worsening Fentanyl Crisis

Image

Earlier this fall, I joined my colleagues for a small roundtable with families who had lost loved ones to fentanyl, including one family from our own district in Florida's Third. They shared their heartbreak, their pain, and their fears about this crisis worsening with Biden's open border, but when the White House wouldn't take a meeting with them, we decided to pressure him directly.

In the time since, however, the White House has been silent, refusing to meet with us. Biden's silence and failure to do anything is criminal negligence, and we will hold him accountable.

Honoring The 25th Anniversary Of The Women In Military Service Memorial

Image

Earlier this week, I joined Rep. Brenda Lawrence and several of my colleagues on H.Res. 1497, honoring the 25th anniversary of the Women in Military Service to America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. This memorial is the only one in the United States dedicated to preserving the history of the more than three million female servicemembers who have served since the American Revolution.

Each year, we honor these women at a memorial with the Bipartisan Women's Caucus, and it's one of my favorite annual ceremonies.

Observing National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Image

On Wednesday, we remembered the American lives lost during the attack at Pearl Harbor and the moment that changed the course of history with the United States' entry into World War II. May we never forget the service and sacrifice of those we lost and the hundreds of thousands more who served in the Armed Forces during the course of the next four years.

We join the rest of the nation and the state of Florida in observing National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Please join us in remembering Master Corporal Edward Tillis of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, who we lost this week after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer. He will be severely missed by all who knew him.

We send our prayers and love to everyone at MCSO, and will continue to honor his memory in Florida's Third Congressional District. Rest easy, Sir.
