| Combating Bureaucratic Overreach— Medical Freedom, Second Amendment Rights, American Energy & More |
|
|
House Republicans this week took legislative action to end the COVID-19 public health emergency declaration and restore medical freedom around the nation. Despite the fact that Joe Biden himself declared the pandemic over four months ago, it took an act of Congress to make progress toward ending the mandate when H.R. 382, the Pandemic Is Over Act, passed the House.
What's more, the ATF recently implemented a new pistol brace "final rule," effectively making criminals out of millions of law-abiding Americans. This is just another example of bureaucratic overreach in Washington, D.C. and my colleagues and I fighting to put a stop to these federal agencies' power grabs.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay updated with us here, on our website, and on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |

Congresswoman Kat Cammack Named Co-Chair Of Bipartisan Women’s Caucus In The 118th Congress
.png)
I'm excited to announce that this week, I was elected to be the Republican Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Women's Caucus during the 118th Congress, alongside my Democrat counterpart Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-NV).
Over the last two years, the Women's Caucus has played an instrumental role in uniting women lawmakers on both sides of the aisle around key issues including infant and maternal health, early childhood education, support for women veterans, and beyond. Through briefings, events, and off-site visits, we've demonstrated the power of working together to shape policies with real impact.

House Republicans Vote To End COVID-19 Public Health Emergency

This week, H.R. 382—the Pandemic Is Over Act—passed the U.S. House of Representatives, taking the appropriate steps to end the public health emergency created in response to COVID-19. In the wake of federal mandates and lockdowns, hardworking Americans bore the brunt of bureaucratic overreach with the imposition of unconstitutional vaccine mandates. No one should EVER have to fear losing their job over personal, private medical decisions.

The ATF's Pistol Brace "Final Rule"

The ATF pistol brace "final rule" is a slap in the face to our Constitution and the people's right to own and bear arms. Under this rule, which went into effect on January 31st, law-abiding gun owners are now being forced to register any weapons with "stabilizing braces" within 120 days since the rule went into effect, or they risk facing possible felony charges.
Joe Biden and his Democrat regime are actively threatening our constitutional rights. The ATF and the Washington federal bureaucrats have abused the rulemaking process once again, and it’s far past time we deregulate the swamp and return the power to the people—the law abiding, rightful, gun-owning people.

Hearing On American Energy Expansion & National Security

This week, the House Energy & Commerce Committee held a hearing on American energy expansion. As the author of the REINS Act which seeks to deregulate and remove bureaucratic, burdensome red tape, I asked witnesses on the panel to name one regulation we can take off the books to help unleash domestic energy production and bring down costs.

Introducing The "Zero-For-Zero" Resolution

This week, Rep. Dan Kildee and I introduced a resolution to zero out the harmful sugar subsidies that distort the market and harm our domestic producers. The resolution promotes sound, fair sugar policy that protects domestic producers against foreign abuses, eliminating America's no-cost sugar policy in exchange for the elimination of all foreign sugar subsidies.
Time and again, the survival of American sugar producers is threatened by the unfair practices and dumping of cheap sugar subsidized by foreign countries. Free trade must also be fair trade, and we should not abandon our own production capabilities in favor of cheap imports that destroy our domestic markets and American producers' livelihoods.

Ocala's Pastor Mark Joins National Prayer Breakfast In Washington, D.C.

This week, my team and I were blessed to host Ocala's Pastor Mark in Washington, D.C. for the National Prayer Breakfast. It was a privilege to share the morning with leaders from across the nation as we pray for our country, our leaders, and our people.
The message from the prayer breakfast was: "You don't have to be perfect. You just have to show up." Let us serve as an important reminder to always show up for each other and our country. |

Representatives Kat Cammack (R-FL-03) and Dan Kildee (D-MI-08) introduced a resolution to zero out the foreign subsidies that make sugar the world’s most distorted commodity market. The resolution promotes sound, fair sugar policy that protects domestic producers against foreign abuses, eliminating America’s no-cost sugar policy in exchange for the elimination of all foreign sugar subsidies.
"Time and again, the survival of American sugar producers is threatened by the unfair practices and dumping of cheap sugar subsidized by foreign countries. Free trade must also be fair trade, and we should not abandon our own production capabilities in favor of cheap imports that destroy our domestic markets and American producers' livelihoods. Food security is national security, and I'm pleased to join Rep. Kildee on a bipartisan resolution that levels the playing field and preserves our family operations," Congresswoman Cammack stated.

"This action is long overdue. This week we are voting on several bills designed to do what we all in America have known for some time, that the emergency declaration should be gone away," Republican Florida Rep. Kat Cammack said in a floor speech. "Why would the president declare that the pandemic is over but not rescind the emergency declaration? In fact, many of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle seem more concerned with keeping the public health emergency in place rather than addressing the problems we are now being faced with."
