| House Republicans Pass H.R. 1, The Lower Energy Costs Act, Restoring U.S. Energy Independence |
|
|
This week, House Republicans delivered on our Commitment to America by voting to pass H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, and restore America's energy independence. Biden's attack on our energy security has left the United States vulnerable and created an unsustainable economic situation. Republicans are bringing back affordability by unleashing our domestic energy production and lifting regulatory burdens.
Additionally, the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government exposed the Biden administration's collusion with Twitter to censor Americans' speech this week during an explosive hearing. Republicans on the committee set the record straight—suppressing speech in ANY form is an egregious abuse of power and antithetical to democracy.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |

H.R. 1 Passes U.S. House of Representatives

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. The bill will boost energy production, lift regulatory burdens for the construction of more energy infrastructure, cut China out of our critical materials supply chains, and lower costs across the board.
Energy security is national security. The American people deserve to know we're doing everything we can to support domestic energy independence and lower costs. H.R. 1 is a necessary, commonsense solution, and I was proud to vote in support of it along with my Republican colleagues.

Celebrating National Farm Workers Day

Today is National Farm Workers Day! Our nation's farmers, ranchers, and producers dedicate their lives to bringing food to our tables while facing many risks and challenges. From working in fields to raising and caring for livestock, these hard workers play a critical role in ensuring that our nation's food supply is abundant and secure.
Please join me thanking our farmers, ranchers, and producers from Florida's Third Congressional District for their immense contributions for our nation's agriculture industry. |

Recognizing National Vietnam War Veterans Day

Wednesday marked 50 years since the date the last combat troops left South Vietnam. On National Vietnam War Veterans day, we honored and remembered the men and women who defended our nation overseas.
Please join me in thanking all our Vietnam veterans in Florida's Third and their families for their distinguished service during one of America’s longest foreign wars. |

Government Weaponization Hearing On Collusion Between Biden Admin. & Twitter To Censor Free Speech

During yesterday's Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing, I asked the Democrat witness if the Biden administration's on-the-record emails promising a "swift and devastating takedown" of those with whom it didn't agree constituted a threat. He said no.
This is a prime example of the federal government's weaponization against the American people. Whether it's COVID origins, concerned parents, or those calling out the abuse of power, we're committed to bringing it to light.

Innovation, Data & Commerce Subcommittee Hearing On College Athletes' NIL Dealmaking Rights

Bringing the Florida-Georgia rivalry from the Gainesville swamp to the D.C. swamp! My good friend Congressman Buddy Carter and I bought our best game to this week's Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee hearing where we heard testimony from collegiate athletes, including former NFL player Trey Burton, a Florida Gator and a 2022 Florida-Georgia Hall Of Fame Inductee!
In the hearing, I asked witnesses whether NIL contracts should be permitted when a collegiate athlete's sport is in-season, the impact revenue-sharing models would have if they were applied to all sports, and what specific actions athletic departments would have to take in order to comply with they type of model.

Supporting Americans' Domestic Energy Production With H.R. 1, The Lower Energy Costs Act

In 2022, more than one-third of U.S. households said they reduced or skipped basic expenses, such as medicine or food, to pay an energy bill. Biden's attack on our nation's energy independence is to blame for this, and Americans can no longer afford to live under these conditions, which is why I was proud to support H.R. 1 on the House Floor this week.
This bill will boost our domestic energy production, lift regulatory burdens, cut China out of our supply chains, and lower costs for folks around the nation, which is why it's one of House Republicans' top priorities this Congress.

Communications & Technology Subcommittee Hearing On Preserving Free Speech & Big Tech Censorship

On Tuesday, I asked witnesses critical questions about the difference between 'fake news,' satire, disinformation, and misinformation during a Communications & Technology Subcommittee hearing. In recent years, viewpoint discrimination and censorship have become commonplace in the public square of social media, and Republicans are fighting back by highlighting these discriminatory practices.

Rep. Cammack Joins Fox News Sunday Live To Talk U.S National Security & Dangers Of TikTok

This past weekend, I joined Fox News Sunday Live to discuss the dangers of TikTok to U.S. national security. TikTok's CEO, Mr. Shou Chew, didn't have many answers for myself or the the House Energy and Commerce Committee at-large. If last week's hearing made one thing clear, it's that Republicans and Democrats are united in our commitment to protecting Americans' privacy and security from the CCP.

Rep. Cammack Joins The Faulkner Focus To Talk Public Health Crisis At Border & TikTok's Pro-CCP Propaganda

This week, I joined the Faulkner Focus to discuss Biden's recent comments surrounding border security and fentanyl. Americans aren't stupid—they know that it's Biden's open-border policies that have allowed criminals to traffic illicit fentanyl, which is now killing our nation's youth by the thousands.
Playing the blame game won't solve this public health crisis. That's why Republican lawmakers on the House Energy and Commerce Committee are fighting back against this administration's blatantly false statements.

More 'Kat In The News' |
Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Thursday that the social media platform TikTok is an extension of the Chinese Communist Party. Joining "Spicer & Co.," Cammack acknowledged concerns over the bipartisan Restrict Act's language but reiterated her support for limiting the ability of foreign technology to spy on U.S. citizens. "I think it's absolutely a valid concern," she said of the bill. "...what we need to do is be cognizant that TikTok is not a private enterprise. "It is a wholly owned subsidiary of ByteDance, which is controlled by the CCP," Cammack explained. "TikTok is an extension of the CCP. We need to say that on repeat over and over and over again."

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack sparred with House Republicans over the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in what could be the opening skirmish in a battle over potential program cuts as Congress considers a new farm bill.
Vilsack expressed frustration with Brazil's delay in reporting a case of atypical bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), but he warned against blocking beef exports, noting that the United States also has had atypical cases. "We have expressed concerns to Brazil about the lateness (of the notification). And we've also made sure that our surveillance at the border is as appropriate as it needs to be to protect our industry," he told Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla.
