Week of April 3, 2023
House Republicans Pass H.R. 1, The Lower Energy Costs Act, Restoring U.S. Energy Independence

While I was back home in Florida this week, my team and I toured Central Florida's agricultural facilities with the Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association (FFVA) to gather feedback from growers and producers ahead of the 2023 Farm Bill. We had the opportunity to view a variety of operations, including blueberry and citrus farms, plant nurseries, strawberry fields, and more while learning about the issues currently impacting our growers in Florida.

Additionally, from all of us at Team Kat, we wish you a very happy, healthy, and blessed Easter Sunday, and a happy Passover to our Jewish friends!

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For Freedom,

Recognizing Gold Star Spouses Day

Image

On Wednesday, we recognized Gold Star Spouses Day, a time to honor the surviving loved ones of military service members who lost their lives in the line of duty. Our Gold Star husbands and wives are the legacies of their soldiers' ultimate sacrifice, representing the sincerest form of courage and loss.

Please join us in remembering both the fallen and their loved ones, as we honor them for their great sacrifices in service to our nation.

Upcoming Service Academy Day For Prospective Applicants

Image

We're hosting an information day for prospective applicants interested in attending one of our nation's service academies! If you know a high school student or recent high school graduate who is interested in attending West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, or Merchant Marine Academy, this event is a great opportunity for them to speak with representatives from each of the five academies and learn more about the nomination process.

To RSVP to this event, email Dorothy Richardson at Dorothy.Richardson@mail.house.gov

Helicopter Tour Of Projects In Marion County

Last week, my team and I took a helicopter tour of Marion County! We had an aerial view of some of the current projects and major developments throughout the community, including the World Equestrian Center and the On Top of the World Communities.

Big thanks to the Ocala CEP for inviting our team on the tour! Check out some aerial photos from the tour here.

Speaking At The Gainesville Chamber Of Commerce Luncheon

Image

This week, I was invited to speak at the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce Luncheon to provide a legislative update for our business leaders in Florida's Third Congressional District. With attendees spanning multiple industries, I discussed the REINS Act, a critical piece of legislation that would help limit excessive federal overreach and remove the regulatory red tape that is currently impacting businesses across the nation.

Big thanks to Mr. Eric Godet, President and CEO of the chamber, for introducing me at the luncheon.

More 'Kat In The News'

U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack is venturing into Central Florida to earn a greater understanding of agriculture throughout the state. The Gainesville Republican launched a three-day tour of area farm operations starting with stops in Umatilla and Mount Dora. She visited Wild Goose Farms and H&A Farms, both blueberry producers in Northeast Lake County. The Congresswoman said she was touring Florida farms as a member of the House Agriculture Committee.

Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) has certainly not been shy to address the southern border during her time as an elected Congresswoman. From sponsoring legislation addressing human trafficking and drug trafficking to calling for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to resign, Rep. Cammack always seems to be engaged on the issue. Now, Rep. Cammack is introducing the Protect Our Law Enforcement with Immigration Control and Enforcement (POLICE) Act of 2023.
"I am proud to support the POLICE Act, which would make assaulting a law enforcement officer a deportable offense. I want to thank my friend Rep. Garbarino for introducing this bill to provide this much-needed update to our immigration laws," said Rep. Cammack.
