House Republicans Deliver Win For Women & Girls In Sports, Protect Against Discrimination

This week in Washington, D.C, House Republicans delivered a resounding win on behalf of women and girls everywhere by passing H.R. 734, the Protecting Women & Girls In Sports Act. This legislation safeguards commonsense competition between female athletes, despite the Biden administration's discriminatory regulations.

Additionally, I was proud to introduce the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act, a bipartisan bill to ensure that individuals with Down syndrome, or other disabilities, receive the lifesaving care they need. The bill's namesake, Charlotte Woodward, is an adult with Down syndrome who received a lifesaving transplant over a decade ago.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For Freedom,

Rep. Cammack Introduces Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act

Image

Yesterday, I had the honor of introducing the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act. This bill ensures that individuals with disabilities, including Down syndrome, are not discriminated against when it comes to lifesaving care, including critical organ donations.

Those who've followed our office for a while are likely familiar with our work with the Sarmiento Family and Zion's Army. Baby Zion was born in 2021 with Down syndrome, underwent several heart surgeries for a heart defect, and then when in need of a lifesaving heart transplant, didn't receive one because of his disability. Baby Zion's mom, Bobbi, was in Washington, D.C. this week to advocate for others like her son and to make sure this situation never occurs again.

We're so proud to stand up for such an important issue and to make sure lifesaving treatments aren't subjective. Learn more about this bill here.

Rep. Cammack Receives Outstanding New Member Of Congress Award From The American Farm Bureau Federation

Image

This week, I was honored to receive the Outstanding New Member of Congress Award from the American Farm Bureau Federation. Having served as the lone Florida Republican on the House Agriculture Committee for the past two years, I have been humbled by the opportunity to travel around the Sunshine State, speaking with our farmers, ranchers, and producers about the challenges they face.

Big thanks to AFBF for all they do to support our nation's agriculture industry. We are looking forward to working together this Congress as the House Agriculture Committee prepares to tackle the 2023 Farm Bill!

Rep. Cammack Tours Central Florida Agricultural Operations Ahead Of 2023 Farm Bill

Image

Recently, my office toured various Central Florida agricultural operations to gather feedback from local producers ahead of the 2023 Farm Bill. Our first stop on the tour was at Wild Goose Farms in Umatilla, who produce over one million pounds of delicious blueberries for fresh consumption each year.

Next week, the House Agriculture Committee will be hosting a Farm Bill listening session in Florida's Third Congressional District. We'll hear from farmers, ranchers, and producers across the Sunshine State about the issues that matter most for this landmark piece of legislation.

Meeting With The Florida Farm Bureau In Washington, D.C.

Image

This week, members of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation stopped by our Washington, D.C. office to discuss priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill. The Florida Farm Bureau represents farm owners who produce all 300 of the state’s agricultural commodities, serving as one of the most powerful voices in the industry today.

Always great chatting with our folks from Florida's Third in our nation's capital. Thanks for stopping by!

House Republicans Pass Protecting Women & Girls In Sports Act

Image

This week, House Republicans voted in support of H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023, which strengthens the law's existing protections for women, ensures a level playing field for female athletes, and protects the law from the Biden administration's regulatory scheme.

This bill simply affirms what we already know to be scientifically true—that there are distinct biological differences between men and women. I was proud to vote in support of it along with my Republican colleagues who are fighting to defend women's sports across the nation.

Honoring Gilchrist County Deputies

Image

On April 19th, 2018, Florida’s Third suffered the loss of two incredible public heroes, Sergeant Noel Ramirez and Deputy Taylor Lindsey of the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Department, when were brazenly attacked while on a lunch break in Trenton. On this day and on countless others when we mark the deaths of our law enforcement officers, my resolve to support our men and women in blue grows stronger each day.

I was proud to honor these heroes for their immense sacrifice on the House Floor. Please join us in praying for all those who were affected by this travesty during this solemn week.

C&T Subcommittee Hearing On Rural Broadband Deployment

Image

This week, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology held a hearing on streamlining broadband deployment. With rural broadband affecting much of North Central Florida, I asked witnesses what, in their opinion, is the single-most urgent change needed to the permitting process in order to best deploy broadband across the country, especially in rural areas like those in Florida's Third Congressional District.

'Kat In The News'

Image
Over in the U.S. House, U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., introduced the bill this week with U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., as the main-cosponsor. "I'm pleased to join my bipartisan colleagues on both sides of the aisle in introducing the Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act. Organ transplants and other lifesaving treatments should not be subjective," said Cammack.

In January, Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) introduced the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which would reassert Congress' legislative authority and prevent excessive overreach by the executive branch in the federal rulemaking process. Eliminating pointless and burdensome red tape would cool inflation and slow runaway spending. Additionally, this legislation gives Congress legislative power to approve any rule which costs over $100 million or more annually from the White House before it goes into effect.
