May 2023 Veterans' Resources Newsletter

Dear Neighbor,

Last month in Florida's Third Congressional District, my team and I were proud to support our local veterans at the dedication of the new VA Primary Care and Mental Health facilities in Gainesville. We presented hospital leadership with U.S. flags and Congressional Record certificates in honor of their service to our nation's heroes.

Additionally, with Memorial Day being recognized in the month of May, my team and I will be joining the millions of Americans in praying for the families of those we've lost—for the service members who so bravely and valiantly defended our freedoms until the very end. May we never forget that we are the land of the free because of the brave. Let us never forget these heroes.

As always, we welcome your feedback about what you read here, and if there are any events or announcements you'd like to see featured, reach out to us by clicking here. You can also check our website for new updates on our Veterans' Services tab. And as always, if you’re a veteran in FL-03 in need of assistance with any veterans-related issues, please call our Gainesville office at 352-505-0838.

With all that’s happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

In Liberty,

Presenting Gainesville VA With Flag, Congressional Record In Honor Of Health Facility Dedication

Image

Last month, my team and I attended the dedication of the new VA Primary Care and Mental Health Facilities in Gainesville. These state-of-the-art clinics provide a wide range of services to our nation's veterans. I presented the hospital leadership team with flags flown over the U.S. Capitol and Congressional Record Certificates in honor of each clinic.

I'd like to extend a special thank you to the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System for all it has done to serve our veterans' community in North Central Florida, and we're excited to see how these facilities will continue to provide for our nation's heroes.

Did You Know? The Difference Between Memorial Day & Veterans' Day

Image

With Memorial Day being recognized in May, people are beginning to plan now for next month's contributions of our veterans. But many do not know what defines this holiday in comparison to Veterans' Day, which falls in November each year.

  • Memorial Day honors military personnel who died in service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. This solemn occasion is a time to reflect on these American patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and defending the country they deeply loved.
  • Veterans' Day honors everyone who has served in the military, whether or not they served in wartime or died in battle.

You can learn more about the history of Memorial Day here or by clicking the button below.
