Week of April 24, 2023
Landmark Legislation, The REINS Act, Passes U.S. House Of Representatives With Republicans' Historic Debt Plan

This week in Washington, D.C., my bill, the REINS Act, passed out of the U.S. House of Representatives. This legislation is a core part of House Republicans' mission to reintroduce government accountability and to restore Congress' role to check the regulatory actions of federal agencies. I'm grateful to the overwhelming support of my colleagues on this bill, and now, it's just one step closer to becoming law.

Additionally, I was proud to host my colleagues on the House Agriculture Committee in Newberry earlier this week for a listening session on the upcoming 2023 Farm Bill. Farmers from across the state gathered by the hundreds to solicit critical feedback about the issues they're facing in their industries. It was an honor to host the one-and-only listening session for the Farm Bill in the entire state of Florida.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For Freedom,

Rep. Cammack's Bill, The REINS Act, Passes U.S. House Of Representatives

Image

This week, the House of Representatives passed the Limit, Save, Grow Act to address the debt ceiling.

Included in the bill is the text of the REINS Act, my bill to rein in executive overreach.
The REINS Act (Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny) would reassert the legislative authority of Congress and prevent excessive overreach by the executive branch in the federal rulemaking process, saving the American people billions of dollars in federal spending.

With the passage of the Limit, Save, Grow Act, the most historic regulatory reform in history—the REINS Act—is one step closer to law. The regulatory regime has gone unchecked for decades and it's time we return power to the American people, not the nameless, faceless bureaucrats in Washington.

Rep. Cammack Hosts Bipartisan Farm Bill Listening Session In Florida's Third With House Agriculture Committee

Image

This week, my colleagues and I on the House Agriculture Committee heard from hundreds of our state's farmers, ranchers, and producers during a Farm Bill Listening Session that I had the honor of hosting in FL-03's Newberry. From blueberries and strawberries, peanuts and watermelon, dairy, timber, cattle, and beyond, we appreciated everyone who showed up to voice their opinions on the upcoming legislation. We also had a blast visiting some of our North Central Florida agricultural facilities prior to the hearing.

Thank you to everyone to showed up and showed out to the listening session. It was an honor to host the one-and-only Florida Farm Bill session in the entire state of Florida, and we’re only just getting started!

Rep. Cammack Joins The Faulkner Focus To Talk GOP Debt Plan & Biden's Disastrous Mortgage Plan

Image

This week, I joined the Faulkner Focus on Fox News to discuss the Biden administration's new mortgage redistribution plan forcing responsible borrowers and those with higher credit scores to subsidize the mortgages of higher-risk borrowers. Much like student loan repayment, this is simply a debt transfer that punishes fiscally responsible Americans and creates a culture of dependency.

Rep. Cammack Joins Varney & Co. To Talk Americans' Response To Worsening Economy Under Biden Administration

Image

This week, I joined Varney & Co. on Fox Business to discuss Americans' recent response to the Biden economy, which is getting worse by the day. Everyday Americans shouldn't suffer as a result of poor policy, but this is exactly what we've seen out of this administration. The polls from folks in FL-03 show that the economy is the top issue people are concerned about. Republicans have a plan to get us back on track.

More 'Kat In The News'

Image
Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) claimed that an adherence to political agenda in the Biden administration spans policies across the board, affecting farmers and the public and putting national security at risk. She told the Washington Examiner in a Wednesday interview that "they're 100% chasing a political narrative," referring to President Joe Biden's administration.
In response to Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry's recent claim that farmers can expect to see "crops ripped away or their homes destroyed" as a result of climate change, Cammack, who sits on the House Committee on Agriculture, chuckled. "I think the biggest concern that our farmers and ranchers have is an overbearing government, which the Biden administration certainly is a behemoth of one," she said.

Members of the bipartisan House Agriculture Committee hosted a Farm Bill Listening Session on Monday at the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension Office in Newberry, led by Congresswoman Kat Cammack from Florida's Third Congressional District. The committee met with farmers, ranchers, conservationists, and foresters from all over the southeastern region to address their top priorities ahead of the 2023 Farm Bill, set for authorization by Congress later this year.
The Farm Bill is a sweeping piece of legislation that contains 12 titles and includes provisions for food stamps, disaster aid, agricultural subsidies, and research. It's revised and voted on every five years and provides a safety net for American farmers.
