| Passing The HALT Fentanyl Act & SCOTUS' Decision On WOTUS |
|
|
This week, the House passed the HALT Fentanyl Act by a final bipartisan vote of 289-133. The bill would permanently label fentanyl as a Schedule 1 narcotic, helping to get these substances off of our streets and out of our communities. This bill is a huge win for the American people and a major milestone in saving American lives.
Additionally, the Supreme Court's decision on WOTUS, the Waters of the U.S. Rule, reaffirmed the private rights of American landowners, farmers, and ranchers. We'll share more information on this soon!
Finally, as we head into this Memorial Day weekend, may we all remember the sacrifices of the servicemen and women who gave everything for our country. The long weekend is not for pool parties and barbecues or the official start to summer, but to remember and honor the sacrifices of the brave American heroes who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.
With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. |

Rep. Cammack Speaks On The House Floor Urging Passage Of HALT Fentanyl
.png)
This week, the House overwhelmingly passed the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of (HALT) Fentanyl Act. The bill permanently schedules deadly fentanyl analogues, strengthening law enforcement's ability to prosecute fentanyl traffickers.
In 2022, more than 109,000 people died of drug overdoses, 75,000 of whom died from synthetic opioids and fentanyl-related substances. Illicit fentanyl deaths accounted for 77 percent of adolescent overdose deaths in 2021. With the passage of this bill, we are one step closer to getting these drugs off our streets and stopping the opioid crisis once and for all.

25th Annual Women In Military Service To America Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony

This week at Arlington National Cemetery, we hosted our annual Women In Military Service to America Wreath Laying & Memorial Event. For the third straight year, I've joined my colleagues, leadership at the VA, the team from the Women's Memorial, and six outstanding honorees from each of our six military branches to remember and honor the service and sacrifice of our military servicewomen.
As Memorial Day approaches this coming Monday, we're reminded of the ultimate sacrifices paid by our heroes to protect and serve the United States. For millions of us across this country, we honor those we've lost and extend our sincerest gratitude to them and their families for giving the ultimate sacrifice. |

This week we with some of the nation's top firefighting equipment manufacturers in Washington this week! Our own Ocala is home to E-ONE, a top manufacturer of fire equipment for departments nationwide. Ocala is also home to a major hub for fire apparatus manufacturing. We discussed the supply chain and cost challenges experienced by these manufacturers and how to continue innovating with the latest tools and resources to keep our first responders safe.
Of course, it was only right to take a photo in front of the American flag in our office made from old firehose at my husband Matt's station. Check it out! |

Replacing Old Flags At Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park

Last week in Ocala, the Ocala Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution and members of the Children of the American Revolution (CAR) joined forces with area veterans at the Ocala/Marion County Veterans Memorial Park! Together, they removed all the old state flags and replaced them with brand new ones on the court plaza. Trademark Metals Recycling (TMR) of Ocala helped to fund the project.
All visitors to the park from far and wide will now have a brighter, bolder display to recognize the service of our heroes. Thanks to everyone who made this project such a success—I look forward to visiting soon to see the new flags! |

Slamming Ridiculous NAACP Travel Advisory For Florida

An MSNBC host called Florida a "terrorist state." If our flip-flops, freedom, and tropical drinks offend them, it's clear they won't like the Sunshine State very much. I talked to Jackie DeAngelis on Fox Business about the absurd advisory and its non-existent effect on our beautiful state and growing tourism sector.
