Week of June 19, 2023
Committee Activity & A New UF Health Facility

This week, I participated in several hearings with the Energy & Commerce Committee. The first focused on the oversight of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the second centered on the assessment of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. You can learn more about those hearings and watch the clips below.

Additionally, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Washington for a state visit and joint address to Congress. Constituents from Florida's Third were able to attend as my special guests for the address.

We also celebrated UF's designation as the next National Cancer Institutes (NCI)-designated cancer care center! The center will be finished by 2033, and you can read more about it below.

The House heads into recess for the next two weeks and I'll be back in the district visiting with industry leaders, small businesses, county/city governments, and more. I hope to see you during our travels next week, and look forward to seeing many of you at all of our stops along the way.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

For Freedom,

Communications & Technology Subcommittee Hearing On Oversight Of FCC

Image

This week, FCC Chair Rosenworcel was in front of the Communications & Technology Subcommittee. During the hearing, I asked Chair Rosenworcel about the FCC's elimination of several unnecessary rules under Chair Pai's tenure and whether or not she'd commit to not reinstating any of them. I also asked about robocalls and what the FCC is doing to eliminate the annoyance for Americans.

Hosting FL-03 Constituents For Joint Address By Indian Prime Minister

Image

This week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Washington, D.C. to deliver a joint address to Congress. Florida's Third's very own constituent joined me to watch the address in the gallery of the U.S. House of Representatives.

It's always great to host North Central Florida natives for important events like this one.

National Take Your Dog To Work Day

Image

It's #NationalTakeYourDogToWorkDay, and here in Washington, we're celebrating two of our favorite four-legged friends, Madison and Franklin!

While their specialty is public "paw-licy," they love greeting visitors, "chewing" on tough policy issues, and "hounding" their colleagues for snacks. It's a "ruff" life, but they make no "bones" about it!

UF Becomes Next Location For NCI-Designated Cancer Care Center

Image

This week, we celebrated the great news that UF Health will become the 72nd National Cancer Institutes (NCI)-designated cancer care center in the country and only the third in the state of Florida!

I joined UF leaders and fellow members of Congress, Reps. Aaron Bean and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to mark the announcement and celebrate the new top-rate clinical care center for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in our region! The goal is to open the new center in 2033 and continue bringing top-notch care to Floridians battling cancer.

White House Fails To Provide COVID Origin Documents

Image

This week I joined Harris Faulkner on The Faulkner Focus to talk about the White House not delivering declassified documents on the origins of COVID.

"It seems like every day is a game of 'whack-a-mole' with this administration. If it's not one thing, it's another and the latest is the White House missing a deadline to deliver documents on the origins of the COVID pandemic. Verified investigations have proven what we know: patient zero worked at the U.S. taxpayer-funded Wuhan lab," I said.
