Week of June 26, 2023
A Whirlwind Week In Florida's Third Congressional District

After seven consecutive weeks in Washington, D.C., it feels great to be home! This week, I visited with constituents in Alachua, Marion, Hamilton, Levy, and Baker Counties, criss-crossing Florida's Third Congressional District and meeting some of the finest folks in the Sunshine State.

Volunteers with Americans for Prosperity Florida and the local chapters of the American Cancer Society visited to share their health priorities with me. I believe that our health care system is broken, but it will take a preventive approach from providers and patients to improve our quality of care. I'm excited to share some new projects on this front in the coming months.

In Baker County, I visited with Sheriff Scotty Rhoden, Baker Clerk of Court Stacie Harvey, the local fire department, World Honey Market, and several small organizations in Macclenny. I also stopped by Cedar Key in Levy County to check out the latest water projects on the Withlacoochee River in Yankeetown before heading to Marion County for a stint as a cashier at the RaceTrac location in Ocala. You can see these visits below and stay tuned for more from our travels next week.

The House is in recess again next week and I'll be back out in the district with many of you. I hope to see you soon, and wish you a happy, safe July 4th holiday with loved ones and friends.

With all that's happening this Congress, it is my greatest honor to represent you and hear from you about the issues that matter most. You can read below about what we've been up to this week, and as always, you can stay up to date with us here, on our website, and on TwitterFacebookInstagram, and YouTube.

Providing Resources On National PTSD Awareness Day

Image

This week marked National PTSD Awareness Day and I went live on Facebook Tuesday evening to share resources with our district related to mental health and PTSD. If you or someone you know struggles with PTSD or another related condition, there are resources that can help immediately.

For veterans, the Veterans' Crisis Line can be accessed by dialing 988 and then pressing 1. The National 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by calling or texting 988. You can learn more about the available resources by clicking on the image above or the button below.

Cheering On Our Florida Gators Men's Baseball Team In Omaha

Image

This week, we cheered on our Florida Gators Men's Baseball Team as they competed in the national championship series in Omaha! While Monday night's game didn't turn out the way we hoped, we're still enormously proud of the incredible season these young men gave us.

We send a special thanks to three of our hometown Gators from Florida's Third: Tyler Shelnut, Deric Fabian, and Wyatt Langford! These three gentlemen have bright futures at UF and in the major leagues, and we can't wait to cheer them on. Go Gators!

Meeting With Americans For Prosperity Florida

Image

I met with Florida's local grassroots team from Americans for Prosperity (AFP) to discuss ways we can expand health care options for Americans, lower costs, and create better health outcomes. I'm so grateful for their hard work and efforts!

Meeting With Local Volunteers From The American Cancer Society

Image

We had a wonderful meeting with the American Cancer Society's local volunteers who took time to share their legislative priorities with me. I believe that our health care system is in desperate need of reform, but it starts with changing the mentality of health care. It's time to champion preventive care, instead of focusing solely on the maintenance of chronic conditions. Big plans are in the works for more resources in our local area! Stay tuned.

Visiting World Honey Market In Baker

Image

On Wednesday, I visited with World Honey Market, owned and operated by John Peterson, a member of the Baker County & Florida Farm Bureaus! During our visit, we discussed the history of John's beekeeping business and how the Farm Bill will impact his farm. It was so great trying some of the delicious honey and seeing all of the hard work that goes into this family-run operation. Thanks for hosting us!

Visiting The Baker County Sheriff's Office

Image

This week I spent some time with Baker County Sheriff Scotty Rhoden and his team at the Baker County Sheriff's Office and Jail to learn more about the challenges they are facing. The difficulties their jobs present don't go unnoticed and I am so grateful for their work. These men and women work hard to keep our communities safe, so it was a pleasure spending some time getting to know them and the issues they care about most!

Visiting The Baker County Clerk Of Court

Image

It was great seeing Baker County Clerk of Court Stacie Harvey this week. Spending time with her and her awesome team makes me so grateful to represent such wonderful people. She gave me a tour of the courthouse and we even looked through some old records dating back to 1891! Thank you to her and her team for all they do for the great citizens of Baker County!

White House Fails To Provide COVID Origin Documents

Image

This week I joined Mornings With Maria with Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business to discuss the Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government's new report about CISA's censorship.

The report found that the Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) was considering creating an anti-misinformation "rapid response team" and moved its censorship operation to a government funded non-profit. This news is alarming and should frighten all Americans.
