After two big weeks in Florida's Third Congressional District, the House returned to session this week for a vote on the FY 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Additionally, the Energy & Commerce Committee held several important hearings and markups, and visitors from Florida were in our nation's capital ahead of several events this weekend showing off some of Florida's many commodities. 

The Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government dropped a new report detailing how Ukrainian intelligence officials worked with the FBI to censor Americans' free speech. More details about this report can be found below where you can read it for yourself and learn more about the dangerous precedent this administration's FBI and DOJ have set for extreme politicization. 

Additionally, the Energy & Commerce Committee uncovered how HHS Sec. Becerra failed to properly and lawfully appoint 14 NIH directors, including the now-retired Dr. Fauci. You can learn more about that investigation below.

Another Bombshell Report From The Subcommittee On The Weaponization Of The Federal Government

This week, the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government released a report about the FBI's work with Ukrainian intelligence officials to censor Americans' free speech. Ukrainian leaders made demands to censor Americans' social media posts that didn't fit their narratives about the war in Ukraine, and the FBI obliged.

Sec. Becerra Fails To Appoint Top U.S. Health Officials

House Republicans on the Energy & Commerce Committee blew the whistle on 14 unlawful, unconstitutional appointments by HHS Sec. Becerra. Since December 2021, Secretary Becerra failed to appoint 14 NIH leaders and center directors who authorized $26 billion in funding while serving without said lawful appointments during that 18-month span. One such person serving without an appointment: the infamous Dr. Anthony Fauci.

We're calling for answers about why the HHS Secretary failed to appoint these members and what the department will do to rectify the situation after such an abject failure.

Florida Peanuts Visit Our Nation's Capital

This week, leaders from the Florida Peanut Federation visited Washington, D.C. Later this weekend, they'll be one of the featured products at Florida's booth for a charity event featuring states' specialties from across the south. They met with several other members of the Florida delegation during our weekly Florida Delegation Lunch and got to meet members of the House Agriculture Committee who are working on this year's Farm Bill. Thank you for visiting!

This week on the House Floor, we debated the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). During the Floor debate, I spoke on behalf of one of my amendments that will explore the potential applications of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and new technologies at DoD.

American Soybean Association Visits Washington, D.C.

This week, the American Soybean Association came to town to discuss their priorities ahead of this year's Farm Bill. We're in the middle of drafting text and legislation for this landmark, every-five-years bill, and the soybeans team stopped by to share more on their work to grow soybean usage in the U.S. and to share more about how soybeans are often used in animal feed and for domestically raised aquaculture.

Energy & Commerce Committee Uncovers Secretary Becerra Failures

This week, the Energy & Commerce Committee learned that Health & Human Services (HHS) Secretary Becerra did not properly and lawfully appoint 14 directors and center leaders at the NIH, including the infamous Dr. Fauci. For 18 months beginning in December 2021, these officials authorized $26 billion in grants without proper appointments. 

We're working to get to the bottom of how this happened and why the Biden administration's top cabinet health official failed so miserably.
